I'm an introverted black women. All of these black women are speaking the truth. We can't win no matter what we do. I've had stupid and hostile people, black and white or whatever, being disrespectful or hostile or aggressive toward me because I'm quiet and introverted. It's part of the reason why I don't enjoy being around others. I know how stupid, hostile, horrible and aggressive people become just because I'm quiet and minding my own business.

If we're introverted, it's an issue. If we're extroverted and social, it's an issue. It's damned if you do, damned if you don't. 🤦🏽‍♀🤷🏽‍♀

You're not lying. And the bad part is we get this feedback from everyone on all sides including our own men. All of my life I've been bullied for being quiet, reserved, lacking a blaccent, and holding a love for adorable things. And you know what that's got me? "Why are you so quiet?" "You're too quiet!","You're weird", and my all time favorite? "Are you trying to be white?". Even my own mother would contribute to this and act embarrassed for me "not acting like a black girl" around family and friends. But the very same people that recoil at a black girl/woman for not acting like her stereotype will be just as disgusted for being the loud ghetto jezebel.

What I’ve found out is the more “on” you are the more other folks like you but, if you’re quite keep to yourself and keep your private life private there’s something wrong with you.

Most of society doesn't like any introverts no matter the skin. Black girl who graduated from art school who hang out with gamers and tech people. Our quietness freaks people out cause "they don't know what we're thinking" and junk like that

I mean I did had some kids picking on me cause being quiet=means less likely to speak up. However I did talk to people but only a little.

Funny cause I never dealt with that aggression and I am introverted. Maybe other race gets the flak too, but maybe some race gets more flak. I live in USA and I am African-American (with a bit of Irish) and on the lighter side. Maybe that’s why I don’t hardly if ever get any flak of being introvert.

I my opinion it’s s harder to manipulate someone when you don’t know what they’re thinking or their personality. Who would’ve ever known that minding you business would stir up so much drama in the workplace?

Introverted black woman here! I can relate. Growing up, I was the quiet girl who read books and kept to herself. I still do. I talked proper and focused on myself. I enjoy my peace and quiet.

This also happens at churches too. If you leave exactly when church is over you're seen as stuck up and then the pastor starts making rules that after church there will be a meeting and people have to stay back. And during church service they make it mandatory to greet everyone in the room. And if you choose not to you're seen as weird. Sometimes it's uncomfortable as an introvert. If you skip a Sunday without going to church you're seen as suspicious. Is there any place in the world where introverts can just be introverts?

I agree with this as an introverted black woman. I think WW tend to utilize workplaces to bully and to get access to BW and F with us even some WM esp those who likely dont interact much with us in their own lives. I think when we respond or refuse to play, it's like BOOM your entire career and livelihood is put in jeopardy because you don't "play their games" or want to be in mix company with these WW and even sometimes the men. As an introverted bw myself, I want to start normalizing the idea of bw not only beginning our own companies but us also supporting and hiring each other, and normalizing a new perspective of hiring that focuses on hiring based on personality types. In Workplaces that support BW.

Yes I didn’t make friends real friends until I graduated from high school. It’s a really lonely life. But I refused to be friends with people who willingly become aggressive because you aren’t like them.

Ok so my experience has been more on the fact that im sensitive. I was never allowed to cry or feel any emotion growing up bc it would make you a target to be bullied. Also in a black household you already know any emotion can be treated as disrespect. In my case i went through alot of abuse so being the kid that cried & was sensitive to everything was something i was ridiculed for. I did try to make friends but i had very little. I did end up in foster care during my teens but i did learn that there was a major difference between me as a black girl vs the rest. They were loud, aggressive and showed skinned. They also were the ones who had a big friend group and guys that liked them. There was pressure that I had to act like them to be accepted but i didn't want to bc some of the things my cousins or other black girls i knew were doing was stupid and would sometimes land them in juvi. It felt like there was more acceptance if you became the stereotype and i didn't want it. I was quiet, enjoyed school, wasnt in trouble alot and very friendly but that translated that i was easy to use & weak. I was called an oreo and accused of trying to be white. My religious foster mom praised me when i was well behaved but called me rebellious if i disagreed or didnt follow what the bible said bc i had a very bad relationship with religion. So a lot of people and even some ex lovers took advantage of me because i was too nice and it messed me up bad. I was picked apart from my looks to my beliefs to how i act. I developed trust issues with the adults in my life bc i knew i was only a check for them plus one tried to groom me at 16. As an adult, my mental health deteriorated, so im in counseling and doing trauma therapy. I have social anxiety bc now i feel i have to monitor how i behave around people and make sure i dont talk too much. Also bc of how I've been treated in the past i don't know who to trust. It hurts bc i feel like thats not how i wanted to be. I want to have bffs i can hang with, depend on and travel with but the older i get the more im understanding that those type of friendships exist only in movies, tv shows and white ppl.

I love that I've found that I'm not the only one going thru this AND I'M 45!!! but I wanna say... this is NOT a race thing. Black people can also be mean to us and they take our quietness as an insult.

It isnt only at work or by nonBlack people! Ive had the most s dished out to me by BM and Bw who have called me stuck up because I am an introvert! 😢 I dgaf now. Got around the workplace bs by starting my own business and I dont tolerate ANY toxic BA by ANYONE! This is a great video!! Thank you🎉 It is unfortunate that people judge BW negatively regardless of how we are - extroverted and loud OR introverted and quiet. If we are too loud, we are ghetto a d ignorant. If we are too quiet, we are racist, stuck up or sneaky. People just need to live and let live!!

@TheTaylorPatrice so you saying people have a problem with black women being polight and respectful, and using their inside voices? You saying people would rather black women behaving classless and disrespectful and obnoxious? Is that what your saying? U think people prefer black women to behave like that?
