I loved Laverne and Shirley watched every episode while it aired..I actually had the opportunity to meet Cindy Williams at a Comic-Con years back in Novi, Michigan and she was one of the nicest and sweetest people that I have ever met..It was my first Comic-Con attending my friend and I were in another part of the building watching an anime film..When it had ended we were walking down this isle headed back and I felt someone close behind me..I stopped then turned around to see who it was and it was Cindy Williams..I was able to chat with her for a minute, she was eating a sandwich and was able to get a couple of pictures in before she went back to signing autographs..Like I said, she was very kind and considerate and it was an honor and a privilege to have actually met her..🌹❤️😁👍

I’m not sure I understand why they couldn’t film around Cindy’s pregnancy that doesn’t seem really fair to me. I pretty much lost interest after they split them up! In my mind it was like splitting up Starsky & Hutch. Both of the actresses were irreplaceable for the series. I hope Cindy got a new agent because it seems to me he was instigating their arguments.

jade blues, I agree with you that when the producers split them up, the show lost some of its charm. Although this isn’t an excuse, I have a feeling it boiled down to production costs: rewriting the scripts, redoing the camera blocking, rebuilding parts of the set(s), and bringing in new props.

I had always heard that the reason Cindy left the show was that she and Penny didn't get along. I did see Cindy say after Penny's death that they would get together at Penny's home, and watch movies or just hang out. It is nice that they were able to mend fences, if that were needed. I always watched L&S, as back in those days, only 3 channels, but I've never been a fan of physical comedy.

The series really went of the rails when the characters leap nearly a decade into the future having Laverne&Shirley swept up in Beatle Mania moving to the California of the 1960s. When this occurred at the start of the 6th Season both it and Happy Days were already over staying its welcome and what kept them on the air was watching more out of habit mostly. Happy Days ran for 11years and when its ragged end came even the actors were just hitting their marks for years just for a paycheck not much else. There might have been a 9th Season with Penny Marshall but part of her character go to New York so she would return and fortunately that debacle never helped because the well had gone dry as they say years before....

Thank You for all the research and work that you put into making this video! I love Laverne and Shirley growing up! But I was so young when the show was on television that I was not aware of things going wrong behind the scenes as maybe older children or adults would have been able to pick up on. Although being young the one thing that I will never ever forget and it will take me back to Laverne and Shirley until the day I die... 5,6,7,8....❤️

I remember when the National Enquirer was making it look like Cindy Williams was a diva and wanted more money. They also made it appear that Cindy was feuding with Penny and her family. I just remember as a kid that it was awkward watching Laverne and Shirley without Shirley. I lost interest after that and plus the later episodes focused around Squiggy and Carmine. They didn’t work as a comedy team.

My favorite is the one where Shirley finds a note behind the stove and thinks that Laverne is trying to steal Carmine away from her.

Laverne and Shirley was a great show. Still is til this day. I still love the reruns. I miss Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams. They are Laverne and Shirley. I miss Garry Marshall too. Glory days of tv.

I was a kid in the south at the time of this show. I remember most adults hated this show.......I simply I wasn't a big diehard fan but I did not hate the show. I finally got an answer. Most people in the south saw this as attack on Christianity with two lesbians.......Yep, that was life in the south

When Cindy left the show wasn’t great anymore. Just like if Penny would’ve left it wouldn’t of worked. You need both characters. Plus the show is called Laverne & Shirley

You know it never really occurred to me until watching this video that Laverne and Shirley was a lot like the Lucy Ball show! Loved them both growing up in the 70's.

One episode that comes to mind is the one they are on the train and someone dies. Somehow they get mixed up in it. One very sad episode is when Laverne's boyfriend, Ted Danson, the firefighter dies. Laverne sits up all night waiting for him. He was going to propose.

I remember the episode, but didn't remember Ted Danson played that character.

Once the duo moved the show to California, it was game over from then on.
