I don't think it's considered a great game, otherwise it wouldn't have died. It was solid but not outstanding in any way. The situation is similar to what we currently have with xDefiant. A truly good PVP game will keep players hooked even without regular updates.

the worst mistake that they made was the unlock weapons to other characters one of the heros had the passive of reloading any gun by rolling/dodging, and she had a shotgun, if you unlock the double barrel shotgun and use it whit her she would simply would 2 shots (3 if she had a perk that upgrade the mag capacity) and roll, 2/3 shots and roll... that shotgun could kill anything whit 2 shots that could be shot almost at the same time, insta kill whit no cooldown, they took almost 8 months to nerf that

Lancer was already a powerful rogue and a very common pick for sweatlords. She was never meant to have the guns of other rogues. Sure she could pick their guns up off the ground but that was different from starting with it.

Easy as someone who stayed since day 1 I knew going into this game it was going to die,neaterless I have 8000 hours on this game I played it nonstop for so long. The reason this game dies is simple and it’s because who developed this game. Highrez don’t care about any of there ips other than smite,every game they have created they abandon it until it’s. Dwindling player base. Each update got worse and worse taking the identity away from the rogues by basically having everyone use the same guns,with the only difference being there ability but the rounds were so fast it didn’t matter. They cared more about cosmetics and seasonal items than what we wanted them to fix. If this game was in any other devs hand it would still be alive and talked about

I still play this game occasionally. I think the forced crossplay and hackers were a big influence in dwindling numbers. Also a lot of ppl used to leave the matches without penalty and until they introduced save the day feature you were pretty much guaranteed a loss. So bugs, cheats and forced crossplay were big ouchies. But i played this game in beta, actually paid for the game and enjoyed it. Just sad to see that its dying. With today having 495 days left on a winter battlepass as we approach the end of summer in uk. That sort of tells me we have less than two years before the game is switched off. Ill try to play as much as I can between then. Thanks for the video

This is so sad. I really loved rogue company, and even bought it when in beta with the founders pack. Even with all its Problems it is a fun and lovely game. For me, the weapon unlock and character stats with Speed and HP however destroyed what I Love, focusing on Casual players with the TDM Focus. Now OP Rogues could and would use OP weapons. Then the MnK Problem against Console Players. They killed their own Game idenity. It Makes me so sad What I would Wish for, but wont Happen: -remove ability to Switch guns on rogues -get rid of character stats -divide Demolition with TDM and Focus on fixes

what killed RoCo was the ignorance of Hi-Rez thinking a boring 4vs4 demolition boredom would catch a large playerbase... they stole from every game possible but failed to copy ANY of the good game modes.... They also abandonned the ONLY successful and cool mode, 6vs6 King of the Hill, which was the ultimate nail in the coffin.... The rest was just too many cheaters, console player legal cheats (aim assist....) and inept and ignorant developers.

The coup the grace to RoCo was that they killed most of the servers. A few days back I tried to give this game another chance but even the textures weren't loading properly and I couldn't even move. Unless you are located near a remaining server you have any mean to play it. Even Dirty Bomb, another dead game by its devs very bad decisions, you still can play it once in a while for nostalgia sake once in a while but not RoCo.

I stopped playing it because unlike Valorant, you need a graphics card and a slightly beefy computer. That's what successful games utilize to their advantage and its the fact their games can run on Celeron or really low end. An extra 10 million players from the low end pc category of games is a lot and should never be underestimated

The game isn't dead, far from it, the PC player base is low for sure but not console. When you get into a match check the scoreboard, you will see mostly console players, most of the time, however the servers can be s**t network disconnecting and lagging, which is really really frustrating .

bugs and patches are actually most of the reason these things don't come out on consoles, crossplay can be disabled that isn't nearly as much of a problem as the fact Sony and Microsoft make companies wait a crazy long time to approve patches and updates for quality control to make sure a patch doesn't brick your console, which is good in theory but absolute death for a multiplayer competitive game that desperately needs to be patched.

Just to give some additional details on the Hi-Rez restructure IIRC: Even though the studios were merged into just Evil Mojo, they ended up laying off most of the RoCo devs, including their (at the time) new Project Lead. It makes it even more sad that he was actually very active with the community and was somewhat reviving the game with balance updates relating to recent player feedback. So as a result, any droplet of hope for RoCo was thrown out the window when Hi-Rez "restructured". Even Paladins is bleeding out in its current state, Hi-Rez just sucks.

it really makes me sad what happened to rc :(. this game had so much potential that just kinda got flushed down the toilet at every turn. for context, im a former rogue company board member and have played since the day it dropped for $15 or more in the beta. i put over 1k hours on the switch version before i got my ps5, and there i put in a few hundred more. i dont mean to flex but im just saying like ive seen what we've been through 😭😭 for a looong time, although the game was buggy, they tended to fix things rly quickly and listen to the community. their balance patches were always great, and ultimately they handled everything amazingly for the first few seasons. and then like u said, hi rez curse happened. with season 2, Mack was added as a rogue and on top of that they decreased every weapons TTK by one bullet. this added with the on-release conviction as one of the best guns theyve ever made (up there with the pre nerf MLX Maw and D40/LMP) led to the first 2 (?) weeks of that season being a shitshow. thankfully, they reverted it, but the trend never stopped. they were always trying to push new ideas that clearly were not very well thought out, like that one time they wanted to add a mythic RPG from their semi-battle royale mode to demolition (who greenlit that even for announcement ??). to me, the game started its descent into madness with weapon mastery, for the same reasons u stated. rogues were balanced bc they had less good guns, and there wasnt a stale meta of guns that everyone was using until then. everyone and their mother started using guns like the KA30, d40, SLC, and the arby shotgun and left all the other guns in their category in the dust. after buffs and nerfs that honestly werent terrible, its mostly up to personal preference now, but every gun feels like a shell of its past self. generally ur right, it didnt feel like the devs gave a fuck abt us at all 😭 but i didnt realize how wrong i was until i joined the board. it was relatively late in the games lifespan when they announced they were taking people in as board members, somewhere after Glimpse released. i was accepted in, and the devs actually really valued our input and support. they truly cared abt the playerbase, and although i cant confirm this, they probably just got told to do some wacky stuff by their higher ups. there was even a time they removed the intel role for a while and considered making changes nobody asked for, such as either making dallas a support rogue or making him a duelist, which in the latter only he would be able to see his reveal. rly weird choices all around. while we're on the topic of the devs, yk how many ppl worked on that game ? total ? pretty sure it was less than 10. its a damn miracle its still going if that number is still true. i was buddies with the director of the game, jared, before he was fired in that mass layoff u spoke abt. guy was worked to the bone and im happy hes off their leash, but i understand how he felt bittersweet abt it all. he was working his hardest to fix rogue company with amazing balance changes and trying to bring it back from the brink. his reward ? a slip of paper telling him to fuck off by next monday. fuckin disgusting. eventually, some leak happened and we caught the blame, and so we kept our titles as board members.. but we had no say. they stopped sharing, so we stopped reaching out. we were given special roles in the official discord server, but man it just felt like a turd with sprinkles on it. so i left it all behind. got to keep the title at least, something less than a dozen people have is pretty damn cool :3 TLDR: im so sad abt what happened to roco. amazing potential in gameplay and lore, squashed to near death by the corporate boot. pumped full of half assed ideas with no execution, by a team of devs working tirelessly to even keep it on life support. the only way to save rogue company now would be to give it so some other company and hope they breathe life into it. but that'll probably never happen, so just get cozy while we wait for the game to take its last breath. :(

I personally think 3rd person shooter can’t be taken seriously. It’s not a guarantee that a 3rd person shooter won’t be successful or fun to play, not at all. It means for the gamers that are super competitive and hardcore fps fans, a 3rd person shooter might be just the thing they would hate. What could possibly the reason making a 3rd pov in a shooting game? Other than that you want to see your character? Maybe you have nice skins and want to see it on the screen? When your main objective is to outaim everyone else, why would you want to obstruct your field of view with the character’s body? And it would make a weird visual experience when the pov is repeatedly changing into kind of first person perspective but the character is still is the frame. And the nature of 3rd person pov is that it rewards campers, because you can see around a wall. So you wait behind a wall until somebody shows up and you surprise them. Another problem that might happen with 3rd person pov is the camera might glitch if you position your character in a corner. Yeah. I think 3rd person shooter is not worth the time for competitive gaming. And the majority of gamers like challenging games. The proof of this is CSGO, PUBG, APEX, COD, R6. All are first person shooters and challenging/competitive games. Of course there is always exception to the rule, and Fortnite might be the only one.

Great video. That being sayed crosplay was implemented so that pc players could still keep pöaying the game with it being the smallest platform. Also quite a few peapol quit playing the game with lack of early content. I quess valorant played a part but the games are quite different also rogue being mostly a console game dont see that effecting the player retention by a lot. Still baffles me why they released the game when the alpha/beta test was still a mess with no content.

Game is fun but I think the identity crisis sorta killed it, the game mode hopping and stuff between the bomb mode, then adding the 6v6 TDM and the whole structural change around how to balance for competitive play and casual fun play is almost impossible to balance properly. Doesn't matter now, the game is actually rotting, any time you play it's a laggy mess because I think they are just doing the bare minimum to keep the game up right now. It's a shame because it IS fun, the movement and gunplay are not bad, the game has neat ideas, they just couldn't nail down the specifics of it all.

Played Rogue pretty hardcore for a solid 2-3 years. I had a lot of fun. But yeah it feels like the core design team just designs the game and bails. Then they put a "B Team" for lack of a better word onto the game to keep updating it, and the B team fucks it all up with their lack of consistent vision. IMO the best update in the game happened when they gave each rogue their own speed and health values. So for the first time, all the rogues felt distinct immediately. Anvil was slow as hell but tanky, as he should be. Lancer was super fast and squishy. Felt great. Then after some loud players bitched on reddit, they completely reverted the change to where everyone felt the same again. The devs were too afraid to put their flag in the ground and stand by it. Any little community outcry and they would backpedal their decisions. Pair this with loads of bugs, some of which I reported to the devs firsthand, never getting fixed for YEARS. And yeah, you end up with a whole lot of wasted potential and an absolute shitshow. The game did NOT feel like Valorant at all. It's way faster and arcadey and movement-centric. Valorant is more methodical. Anybody saying the two are alike has no clue what they are talking about. Rogue Company could have gotten absolutely huge and grown into something special just like R6 Siege did, IF managed properly, IF bugs were fixed, and if the team's design vision was consistent. Competitive focus was the right move. Abandoning it and prioritizing casual play was basically the death knell that signaled the team's intention to abandon the game entirely.
