I have not drank for over 20 years now (22 to be exact). I made a promise to my husband that if he quit smoking I would stop drinking. We never went back and are better people for it. Good luck with your journey.

I have suffered with addiction since I was 14 years old. I'm 36 now. I've been sober for one year as of March 18th 2024. I tried to get clean many times... obviously being unsuccessful. U literally have to turn ur world upside down. To stay sober and succeed. So far I only have one friend that I made a couple months into my sobriety that I still have. She is my rock. I had to cut out all my old friends.... even family members. In order to make being sober work for me. I'm thankful for it everday... I truly understand what u mean... about losing urself 100%. I'm glad we are both on a better path for our own life's. ❤ sending u love, strength and good vibes!

Congratulations on stopping drinking. As someone with an addictive personality, I too had issues with alcohol & was on my way to becoming an alcoholic before I got pregnant with my child (17 years ago Jan). I too mixed alcohol with other substances. I stopped drinking 7 (8 in Jan) years ago. I hated drinking around my child so this helped my decision to stop all together.

Hey Daniel. I have followed you for years. Your journey was hard to watch. Life’s journey is so hard. You’ve had to face so much trauma in your childhood. My journey also used addiction to mask my inner pain. It’s taken me years to be able to face my own pain and to learn to love myself. The bottom line in facing addiction is to stop the behavior. But the healing comes in learning to love myself in spite of my imperfections. That is the lifelong challenge. The journey looks different daily, but the answer is to love myself as an imperfect person. That person is beautiful just as he is. No need to hide or mask him. 😊
