We like to bring attention to you some of the more obscure and unusual facts about Dragon Ball here on this channel sometimes, such as unusual merch like a Vegeta shower curtain or myths about the series like how Kid Buu isn't the strongest form even though he's the final boss. But today, we wished to bring to you a short and sweet video about some EVEN more obscure facts about this series that you most likely have never heard before, and if you have, let the others find out and fair play to you - you know your stuff! So, we think we know our Dragon Ball characters pretty well, right? I mean, Toriyama isn't one to share the backstories of some of them, you know the ones, possibly thinking them as not needed to tell his story, which is fair...after all, you can't write a whole backstory for every single incidental character you have...although mind you, Hav and I do like to think about it from time to time...even if it's a random goon...but that's just us! That being said, there ARE some bits and pieces scattered amongst the series that we believe not all of you know which are either very illuminating, provide some further background to characters who very much need something for them...or could easily be unimportant. Krillin, The Super Cop would be an awesome manga/anime. He's Bullet Proof, can shoot laszers out of his hands, and has martial arts, and probably has the hottest wife in the district. Plus hes goofy, and has been humbled so much over the years that I just want to see him where he's the unstoppable badass that everyone looks up to, like though the eyes of a rookie who ends up becoming his partner, someone who could play the straight man to the Krill-Dog's outgoing goofball nature. And like have side stories about how much of a difference Krillin's made to the community he serves though the street legends that pop up about our super-cop.

I got my headcanon to why Krillin doesn't have a nose. It's that Krillin was bullied hard by the other students in the temple, remember the people Kid Krillin was afraid of. And one day, a especially violent incident occurred. The bullies, after a violent exchange, smashed Krillins nose in, breaking it beyond repair. After having been brought back to health, Krillin have had enough and fled the temple, to train under a more suitable master.

When you talk about the lyrics to Yamcha's song sounding like an 80s anime ballet it just makes me think of the end credits song for Dragon Ball "I'll Give You Romance". Still one of the most underrated songs in the franchise by far.

On the fact of Yamcha's theme, he actually has *themes,* plural. His other theme song is called Ookami and was his theme specifically for DBZ, is also sung by Toru Furuya, and is also quite a banger. It kind of serves as a sequel to Wolf Hurricane, explaining how he's become Ok with the lonely life, and shows he still loves Bulma and uses the love they once had as a reason to keep on going, knowing that one day he'll find love like that again. Not as much of a banger as Wolf Hurricane, but still amazing. If you prefer slower rock, it's up your alley.

I believe that Roshi's real name is Jackie Chun, the same name he uses in the Tournament, I believe he used his real name because he his hundreds years old and nobody on earth knew who he really is execpt for Tsuru senin, and that's the reason why he looks like Jackie Chan when he was younger, he is inspired by Jackie Chan, so it makes sense his real name being Jackie Chun.

Fun fact about Roshi, or rather, strange translation choice: in French, he is called "Tortue Géniale", which means "Awesome Turtle". Sound more like a boyscout nickname if you ask me, but I rolled with that name up until I grew up and learned English, and realised he was called a much more serious sounding name in English.

I mean, it ain't ideal but like...it's not like Krillin couldn't breathe without a nose. He still has a mouth. Although the consequences of that aside, I do wonder if the lack of smell enhances his other senses. Think at least in the English dub Krillin claims despite everyone else being stronger, he's the best at sensing energy. Kind of a subversion I guess. Some animated shows have characters sensing people by sniffing after all.

I love Tien, but I never liked his actual origin. I feel like it takes away from his training and hard work if his power could be traced back to being genetically non-human. It also undermines him compared to Krillin. The debate on who is stronger human is a popular one, but to me it’s redundant if one of them has a genetic advantage.

Him not having a nose has always been cannon, even in one of the earliest Dragon Ball episodes, one of his enemies farts on his foes and he mentions not having to smell it because he doesn't have a nose.

Haven’t seen og Dragon ball in a while, so i could be wrong, but wouldn’t Ox king “shrinking” be from every single character growing up and no longer children. I remember the episode of the world martial art tournament having a scene where Krillian was expecting to have grown taller than Goku, but of course Goku ended up growing to be far taller. Ps. I just realized the only character to have not change physically to use as a height ruler, Mr. Roshi! Not sure if they got any scenes together in dbz though. Might have to be an indirect comparison of the Z fighter to chi chi and then to Ox king

Problem with the "breathe through his skin" theory... wouldn't he then still be able to smell Bacterian? I mean you can breathe through your mouth with which you don't smell, but you can still taste a foul odor if it's strong enough. To be honest, I like the "third eye via meditation" a lot better than alien descent. One of those is a really neat example of Buddhist concepts that reinforces the themes of Tien's character and the other is him being part alien.

Huh! I actually didn’t know about a good few of these, like there being an actual potential reason for Krillin not having a nose (I always thought that it was part of a gag that was built upon in his fight against Bacterian), or Yamcha having a theme song, but I DID know about Emperor Chiaotzu (though I wasn’t aware of his “wife”) and Tien being part of a distant alien race, and I’ve actually been wondering about Master Roshi’s real name myself!
