Matt Sorum nailed it! He was a very good solid drummer. His drum solos were on point. He brought a lot to the group and writes his own music. He’s multi instrumentalist. But yes, Steven was the man behind GnR.

Nope they did what they had to do. That's bullshit when he said he was working on kicking heroin but after the news he went back on it. He would've never quit then. Just look how long it took to get him back from that roller coaster they call drugs. So yes the band made the right but hard decision.

Honestly I understand your opinion but instead of really helping him they just said "okay bye" (at least this is my opinion) and I know taking a break could have been "terrible" for the band in the 90s but maybe it would've help ? We'll never know but I understand you

Steven had the swing and Izzy was the swagger without them it’s just Chinese Revolver. Steven just had terrible timing with Mr Brownstone. Izzy and Slash were both junkies at the time but they had been doing it long enough that they could function and a guitar player who lays behind the beat is not a bad thing. A drummer who does not so much, plus he was new to the life and had just figured out how to function. Add in that they were going into the studio and the only one sober was the benevolent dictator Axl Rose. Who was really starting to go down his own self destructive path with mental health.

A sober Steven was always preferable to Matt to my ears. Matt and Gilby are both fine musicians. But, that original crew had some kind of magic that only comes along once in a great while. What I would give to hear another album from the original line up.

Had a great sound and fitted perfect with the band, but bottom line , he was kicked because he couldn't drum anymore due to this drug habits, does that make him worse than the rest of the band, not really but they could still preform and that was the difference

I've noticed Axl into fat drummers, Steven had that groove GnR lost to bad Steve couldn't recover,,Matt just a bloated average drummer luckiest sob

Steven is great 👍 but if he can't play due to trying to get clean and sober we'll this is a huge gig with lots of shows to do. Maybe they could have given him more time , or found a replacement until he got better . Matt did very well in gnr I think , it probably payed more than the cult gig
