@@keith3970French Haiti wasn't even feeding their own slaves, it was cheaper to import new ones when the old ones perish from starvation. But did anyone watch the new Bob Marley movie? It starts with Jamaica being split with infighting between two political parties, gangs are working for them, terrorizing people, even try to kill marley. The money shot is in the historical footage at the end of the movie with Marley meeting the two political leaders to try to unite the country. Two old white dudes are keeping Jamaica in state of unrest while probably making a killing extracting natural resources.

We need a president elected by the haitien people who has the gut needed to face the international foreign politics in Haiti and fix it. Otherwise recuse ourselves from it and join African governments in their efforts to liberate their countries of the imperialism. Haitian people should pull together to face this time the foreign army and force them to get out. Who put weapon embargo on Haiti for decades the same three countries who push to send soldiers in Haiti so they can steal easily as they did in the past and leave Haiti in an economical disaster. Dr. Jemima Pierre is suggesting that Haiti should get into a discussion with Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba....three communist/socialist countries as if most appropriate to help Haiti. That is what you call adding insult to injury. No not them need to get involved in Haiti's affairs, but neither should the US, Canada and France. Haiti needs to be left alone, it will either self-implode or once again re-blossom as a free independent nation. Facts remain unchanged, international intervention has not worked and will never be the solution, no matter how hard you try. Why they are trying the same formula once again is baffling. It is the perfect definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. It has not worked and never will.

The first one lasted 19 years and destroyed hundreds of thousands of lives and established color hierarchy, the CACO system that brought back slavery to the country. Just give Hispaniola to the neighbors and let them make Hispaniola great again. Clearly they know how to get it done. Been to DR at least 3 times and can’t get enough of it.

We can't take all the Haitian problems. We took a lot in after the earthquake. There is so much bad history between the two countries on this island

@@mattanderson5161 i don’t blame you. They are easily the most ungrateful people on the planet. They flee to the USA and at the same time blame the USA for the mess they have for a country. Never taking responsibility for the failed state.

Dr. Jemima Pierre just couldn't resist to explain what's happening in Haiti as "racist tropes," and litterally in the same breath undid her argument by referring to other more troubled "black" and hispanic countries which the US is not invaded.

@@krishna-e-bera listen to what she has to say. "Identity" politics explains the whole universe by secondary factors and stubs its toe on reality.

@@none194 HaÏti was a racist colony and still has racism problems today, due to ongoing colonial oppression. I agree with you that identity politics is a red herring, it is first world drama.

Guatemala, Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Bolivia, Mexico, Honduras, Suriname and the United States are corrupt countries with human rights abuses with potential political violence, police brutality and war crimes in the Americas.

Not just the U.S. removed Haiti's democratically elected president in 2004 -- Canada and France were significant players. Americans and other solidarity activists shouldn't ignore the role played by U.S. imperial allies.
