This video would have been even better if it included bits about Will's childhood as well, e.g. his violent, controlling father who wouldn't love Will unless he reaches rank 1, therefore Will's enormous fear of failure. Also, it could be mentioned that Jada shows emotionally unstable behaviour like threats of suicide which Will had to deal with. Other than that, this is the best, unbiased video on the topic of their marriage that I have ever seen!

LoL Will Smith is indeed the greatest and most successful actor that ever lived. I believe he is still acting IRL. Brando is nothing but a shadow compared to him at that interview with Willow and Jada. Will is gay and Jada is a ultra feminist from a broken home. It is sad that they have to break their children to keep their jobs and their children know they are just like Hollywood props. They are still humans, the children, but their parents are monsters and what matters in the end is money, they will repeat the cycle of broken families until the elite pet project is out of the bag, we are under the demoralization phase.

I don't think they got married to fix the relationship. They got married because of outside cultural pressures. Will felt like men need to be married in order to be successful. Jada felt she had to get married because of pressure from Will and her relatives. And it may be nonsensical in our view, but it happens all the time. As a society, we still hold marriage up on a pedestal as the best model of relationships. We criticize people who choose to stay single or unmarried. We criticize people who don't believe in monogamy. Things are slowly changing, but these are still the mainstream views and many people still feel like they have to comply with social pressures.

I was grateful when my parents were honest about their failed marriage. I spent much of my childhood being pushed to "pretend along" that everything was normal and fine. Once they started being honest about their experience and mistakes, it was painful, but I felt liberated, because it validated my gut instincts that things hadn't been right. I don't think we can decide for Willow whether this is hurting or healing, only she can. This may be far less painful than sitting at home in silence having to tell the world everything's fine.

The talk about having money, being young and hot and being able to have anyone, yet being unhappy, can be applied to so many people and speaks volumes about that person. They don't have self fulfilment. Their entire identity is based on something that isn't sustainable and will never be completely attainable. You have to find your own happiness, inside. You have to understand, appreciate and respect yourself. If you depend on money, fame, attractiveness, or whatever else that's decided by society and sources beyond your control to make you happy, it'll never happen. You'll just be stuck living as a puppet, with everything in life decided by your relevance and what you can offer to everyone. I wish more people would do themselves a favor and live on their own terms, not the world's.

Definitely agree. You default to politeness as you take in the shock of what just happened, and then the anger starts to creep up you until it's taken you over entirely. Will had a LOT of pent up anger in that slap. He was coming to terms with the fact that he'd essentially pressured Jada into marrying him in order to satisfy his own ego- perhaps he felt guilty for that. He'd watched his father mistreat his mother and himself. He felt like a failure because his second marriage had crumbled, a massive blow to his already fragile and inflated ego. He was coming to terms with Jada's infidelity AND with the public reaction to it. And to top it off, Chris joked about Jada's hair, which is a sensitive topic to her. She just scowled and let it pass because that is the sensible thing to do when someone makes a joke you don't appreciate, but honestly, Will was so close to snapping that even a small issue like an insensitive joke was enough to send him over the edge.

I think rich people have no understanding of what happiness is and how you get it. For Jada to have everything that money could buy and still ask herself "why am I not happy" in her Red Table Diary Egofest means she foolishly thinks money can buy happiness. But even the poorest soul knows you cannot ever buy happiness. Rather happiness in life comes in small moments and quantities. Like the dinner party you have with your few closest friends where no one judges you and you feel unconditional love. Or the feeling I get in the forest of Yosemite sitting right across from half dome in the summer and seeing and hearing the soft breeze ruffle up the ferns that cover the woodland. Those are the times my heart swells with happiness and I am grateful to be alive, but I know I cannot maintain that feeling forever. The rest of life is working, mortgages, traffic, car payments, seeing bad movies you wasted time on, yucky food that you at least tried once, overpriced gas, crabby people, smelly people, politics, earthquakes, and the utter unhappiness that comes with death. So, you have to learn how to identify happiness already in your life, NOT look for someone or something outside yourself to make you happy. The end.

As someone who came from a family where both of my parents hurt each other in actions and words and still decided to stay together "for the children", I sympathize with the kids in this situation. @goober112 K. Good for you. Not everyone has the luxury to be able to leave that kind of toxic situation, even when they're already an adult. Some people lack the will or strength to leave because they feel obligated to their parents. Even though I'm sure Jaden and Willow have the means to move out, they're stars in their own right, maybe family expectations or their own motivations won't let them leave. It doesn't make the situation any less awkward and uncomfortable for them, having their parent's problems publicly known to this extent.

The fact that August was Jaden's friend and had a relationship with his mom is so deeply disturbing
@phoenixgirl70
@phoenixgirl70 7 ай бұрын
I know it’s often talked about as friend, but I think Augustwas just helping Jaden with his music career. I think they were more acquaintances. And August was much older. But it’s more salacious to say Jada was with her sons friend, like some childhood kid. And damn, Will told August to go for it. They ( Will & Jada) weren’t even together. I think if it was Jadens “friend” Will would have thought of how his son felt. And there’s definitely more to Wills history with women as alluded during their red table talk. But Will cannot be seen as not perfect in his own eyes. He thought only a “happy marriage image” was good for HIS career. Seems he was much more selfish than we thought. I mean the wedding, the 40th party wasn’t for her, he admitted it was for him. I’m over the “poor Will” stuff. He got everything he wanted. The fantasy fake life.

The difference is that for the most part this shit is private. What they have done is vicious over sharing and it’s gross. We all have enough of our own to deal with, each of us and our stories is unique and if you find a space that is specific to sharing, whether that’s a person or people or group that has invited your sharing KEEP IT PRIVATE my god. The fact that Jada was unhappy on her wedding day and Will was like "don't worry about it, she'll get over it" is a large screaming red flag that he only cared about what he wanted and that she should have walked right out of there before the ceremony started. I was always on Team Will and thought Jada was a narcissistic cow, but I see now they are as bad as each other. My feeling is that she had the "affair" with that young guy (August?) and talked about it in depth to Will's face as a way of her "punishing" him for making her get married when she clearly did not want to. Regardless, that is one very toxic relationship with two people who have very different perspectives and are constantly trying to get their own way at the expense of the other person.

I agree Will should not have married such a woman, but I wouldn’t go as far as to call him a red flag. They already had a baby conceived. Im sure marriage was pushed especially due to this reason back then. Also marriage for women in their twenties is even conventional now, so I’m sure she was feeling the pressures twenty something years ago. She probably thought she would regret it in the future if she didn’t get married then. Even now, there’s so many people in their 40s, 50s just constantly looking because they thought they didn’t want to get married when they were younger but changed their mind as they grew older. I hid my little sister under the bed against the wall incase one of them came in and reached under the bed looking for someone to throw onto the bed and beat the living daylights out of. My parents stayed together because they enjoyed the lavish lifestyle of both incomes. Yep, those new cars and fancy appliances were worth every day of them hiding those bruises & scratches and lying about how one of their kids is mysteriously injured again... My Dads dead now (he ended up on a pension long ago due to poor health) and my mother's in a care home due to stage 4 dementia. She doesn't know who I am some days and when she does, she keeps asking me when Dad will be home from work tonight. My sister and I lived like we were walking on eggshells our whole lives and they tried to blame US for their selfish choice? It would be laughable if my sister wasn't so incredibly damaged. I think being autistic protected me enough to help me function. Saying you "stayed for the kids" can be a great cover story for "I'm a self centred, selfish person who now happens to have kids". @inmyOWN_world My parents stayed together FOR MONEY. Luxury items - not survival mind you. My sister and I were abused daily - as well as watching them abuse each other. Then we had to act normal in public. You ever seen a telephone ripped out of a wall and thrown at someone's head? I was 8 years old and I had no idea that was possible. My mum ducked it with ease and just threw her nail file off the coffee table at him. It was almost like they ENJOYED the fights. I just shoved my oblivious sister under the bed and told her to shut up because I might be a scrawny, little girl but at least they wouldn't reach for her after beating the daylights out of me. My Dad died broke and my mums in a home with stage 4 dementia. The money didn't last as long as they thought. My mother might be alive but she's dead to my sister and I. My sister actually blocked out our entire childhood, but at least with autism my long term memory is phenomenal so I can try and remember anything happy to tell her to give it back to her I guess. That's not really what siblings should have to do for each other, but it's not like we could choose our parents.

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been trying to defend Jayda for years because I knew it wasn’t all of her. They both are a part of this and most of this would never occurred if will do not force her into a marriage, she did not want.
@keleziz76

This video helped to clarify several things. Very thoughtful view that was considerate of both sides. It sounds like, even though Jada and Tupac may not have been romantic, but Jada definitely felt like she had wanted it to be that. It’s harder still when you lose that person, so she never got the chance to experience that with him, so her grief is stuck in the “what if” mode with Tupac. With Will, she found a stable, financially secure life, but Will’s ego also didn’t give her what she needed in a partner, spiritually or emotionally. As much as we would like to think that we should be satisfied with money and fame, I think we have endless examples that money and fame do not solve any problems. As strange as it seems, they have decided not to divorce, likely for public image and not having to divide the fortune. But they are still trying to figure out for themselves where this leaves them, since it’s not a common path. As the narrator says, it still does not seem like an attractive route for most couples. But they both seem determined to make this broken marriage work for them.

Also avoid narcissists at all cost 🙏 it's funny because I'm actually dealing with someone like Will right now, who won't stop texting me & trying to hang out after I've clearly told him I don't want to date him multiple times. I'm very high functioning autistic so I can't read people super well & I kinda went along with the friendship. Until he kept asking me out again & again & I could see how Jada might eventually succumb to it. When we hung out he would say he needed to pay for eberything bc he had a full ride to college. Very narcissistic. & he showed up at my school trying to talk to me when he doesn't even go there. Anyway that's my life story sorry that was tmi but he reminds me a bit of this situation

Jada has always been really strange to me. The way she's constructed an entirely made up narrative about her relationship with Tupac is just insane. He was never as into her as she was into him. When she claimed he wanted to marry her, he was with a whole other woman that he was about to marry shortly before his death. Even to the point of trying to get her kids to treat Tupac like their father instead of Will. She's mentally unstable, to put it lightly.

It's a sub-culture where celebrities can get away with bad things for longer, or not suffer much at all. Look at R Kelly -- how many certain people still insist he's innocent? Same with Michael Jackson. Look at how 2pac went to prison for sexual assault yet he's still a black hero. It isn't like that in shall we say "mainstream" society but for others bad behaviour doesn't seem to matter at all.

I understand where Jada comes from, BUT there are some points to catch on, I got the feel that she treats Willow as a friend, like somehow she's around but Jaden isn't. She dated AUGUST and that's a BIG age gap. And finally I think they have and had enough money for her to build a carreer as both of their children. What I see is a depressed and traumatized woman who never used her resourses wisely and divorcing Will nowadays, like, fully separating, It's giving up to her life style. I mean he offered her the support she needed and she still is so blunt with him, any of them is perfect, but no one can deny that Will gave his life for his family and Willow is like this projection of Jada's ideas and then used as an argument. That's some nasty behavior. She's the kind of people who became what she feard most.

But thank god he said no and stood his ground rather than giving into it.He was my friend at the time and he never used me either. May god bless that man for having some common sense and basic human discipline cuz if not it would've ended much worse than Will and Jada. I'm still single after all but still I'm sure happy by myself going on my merryway.😊💫 P.S. The lesson I learned is always be in a place where I'm needed, loved, respected and cherished as much as I give in, even if it's a relationship or a job.🎉 And the fact that u can be the juiciest peach in the world and still there can be someone who hates peach.😅😅😅😅 So, don't take rejection personal, cuz sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise. 😊😊

Both Will and Jada had abusive fathers. Wills father was extremely abusive to his mother. He once punched her in the face so hard that she spit up blood. Will was very young and not being able to protect his mother made him feel like a coward. He felt like he failed his mother. Will said his father was his hero but his father was also the source of his greatest pain. Will has had to work through a lot of childhood trauma just like Jada, who was abused by her father and then raised by a mother and step father who were functioning drug addicts. Will said he started to tell jokes and be entertaining because if his father was laughing then he wouldn’t hit his mother. That’s a lot of weight for a child. Will deconstructs the persona “Will Smith” that he created initially to protect his mother in his KZbin special “The Best Shape of My Life”. The Will Smith that he presents to the world is very funny, kind, entertaining and able to make a lot of money for himself and others. He realized that Will Smith, the persona, ignored and couldn’t even see the feelings of others. He realized that what helps him to be disciplined and good at his craft was a level of persistent control that was harming his wife and kids. In his KZbin special he started working with a very good therapist to help him confront his issues. Both Will and Jada are human. There is no villain in their story. They are now coming back together as healthier people just as they had always planned to do. Thank you Patrick for making such a balanced video. The trend online is to paint Jada as a villain and Will as a simp when neither are accurate descriptions of who they are.

This just seems to be largely a matter of failing to end a relationship when its appropriate, and keeping your "foot in the door", or keeping someone "on the hook". When they get along, they are life partners - when they don't get along, they have been separated since 2016. Now they are caught in an abusive cycle, where the terms of their relationship haven't even been clear in a decade, more or less. They should stop trying to be deep about it, and just make a decision regarding their relationship status, and then go on with their lives.
