Let me know in the comments below - how do you overcome bad habits in your swing? Speaking from experience, as the season progresses I tend to start pulling irons and tee shots to the left which may be an over-correction to slices that appear in the earlier part of the year.

As to how to overcome bad habits? Hard ass work, my friend. Get a good pro, have him or her give you drills and things to work on. Do said drills until you can't stand it. Go see the pro again in a few weeks. I generally wont see a golf coach again until I've hit at least 1000 balls with whatever we are working on at that time. I've dropped my index 20 strokes in 8 years, so it can be done.

@@jonathanstevens2937 love the honesty - hard work and discipline are certainly big part of improving your game. A lot of viewers praising the benefits of working with a coach/ pro - do you work with a local and/or have you tried any remote coaches (swingtweaks, etc.)? Looking for recommendations going into the new year. Thanks for watching!

@jonathanstevens2937 massive thing to take away from this comment is that it takes time to improve and improvement is never linear. There will be good rounds and bad rounds just try to keep on the same path.

For me, on my driver hits, first of all, I keep my legs as upright as is reasonable....so I'm hitting downwards and swinging as straight into the ball as possible. That really discourages hooking and slicing....and gives me better chance to get my shoulder down and through...and hit the ball upwards. The other big thing is do is a slow complete broad backswing....keeping lead arm as straight as possible. I don't force the downswing.....so resist the impulse to come over the top. Results in pretty successful and consistent driver hits.

I think you may need to check your counting on Hole 16, with the penalty, you are playing three off the tee.

It looked like your swing with the driver was a bit outside-in leading to a bit of a slice. Keep working on that flat stick because that really seems to be where you're losing strokes. Beautiful course with the drone footage btw 👌

Appreciate the extra set of eyes, there - driver has been more challenging this season than in the past; need to get out to the range and work on the basics of my swing to see if I can correct that. haha agreed, will be laser focused on improving my putting over the off-season this winter. Thanks for watching!

From personal experience, if you're slicing a lot of your shots, it might mean that your grip is too weak. I would recommend watching videos showing you how to strengthen your grip and what each type of grip looks like. I went from heaving slicing, to hitting a consistent mini draw just by strengthening my grip and adjusting my stance a little. I really recommend Grant Horvat Teaches. He really helped my swing a lot because he breaks everything down so you actually understand what he's talking about.

Thanks @justiiveria3063 - good point. I know I’ve worked on wrist strengthening in the past but that was more to address fatigue than to help correct my slice. Will definitely give Grant Horvat Teaches a watch!

Get an alignment stick stick it in the ground at about the shaft angle of your club…then practice swinging under it on takeaway and follow through should fix your over the top swing

Thanks, Babylon! Putting is the kryptonite of my game no doubt about. Have started trying to deploy a wider stance to try and improve control. More to come on the outcome of that test in future videos. Thanks for watching!

I’m not a pro by ANY means, i average around 8 to 10 over on nine, but i will say it does seem like when you are putting your feet are super far apart, that’s going to give more chance for your body to move less like a pendulum, i would try putting the closer together and see how that feels
@blunderboysgolf11 ай бұрын
Great eyes on that one. I’ve actually been trying to putt with my feet close together (used to have a really wide stance when putting) but sounds like it could be worth bringing my feet closer together. Clearly old habits die hard. Thanks for the feedback, and for watching!

Watch some Rope swing drills. Am a lower cap player and find this helps a lot of faults in most golfers. Then practice 30 & 15 yard pitches. Get a putting mirror. I’d say your putter is probably too long for you.
@blunderboysgolf11 ай бұрын
Thanks, @jonadpareja! I recently got a rope swing tool so am excited to practice some drills and see if that helps with some of the issues in my swing. Interesting callout on the putter - I switched to a pyramid this year and opted for the longer shaft given I’m playing with slightly longer shafts on my iron per my fitting. Will look into the mirror and maybe revert back to my shorter old putter. Great tips. Thanks again!

I would suggest working on keeping your spine straighter if possible. When you hunch you have a tendacy to pull left naturally. Other than that its just putting which is the the thing you cant practice at home or on the driving range. I find it impossible to improve putting unless I spend 30 minutes to an hour at the course on their putting green the day before I play.
@blunderboysgolf11 ай бұрын
@thefrickenpope - thanks for the tip on the hunch. Something I’ll have to actively work at; my posture, in general, could use some tweaks. Good tip, I often get to the course only mins before we tee off. Hitting those practice greens is critical. Thanks for watching!

you have significant potential. I'd recommend finding a good pro (online lessons are a decent option) to help you, but your wrist conditions at the top aren't helping your cause. The lead wrist extension (cupping) paired with some loss of arm structure is just about guaranteeing a steeping move in transition and an open club face. from there, you *have to* swing well to the left to have any hope of a functional golf shot. However, sometimes you flip the face closed a bit and get those pulls. It makes it hard to control low point as well, which leads to those sculls. Putting is important, but stellar putting is overrated. Get your ball on or near the green in regulation or even regulation plus one and be an acceptable putter, and you will drop 8 shots from that index. I am streaky but can be quite a good putter; it has maybe saved 5% of rounds that otherwise would go off the rails. Managing my game around the swing of the day and avoiding catastrophe saves far more. FWIW, I've never had a round without a double bogey that wasn't below 80. I have had rounds where I canned a ton of putts and made 4 birdies or 2 birds and and eagle and still shot 80 or 81.
