The most helpful photography video on KZbin! I see so many beginners focus on camera/gear, Hacks and tips and tricks to get better and forget about story! Well said dude. I find I’m very particular with my photography and video work now, I will normally have a vision in my mind of what the story/emotion I want to convey and it makes shooting so much easier as you said because your shooting with intention and not just pointing your camera at something that looks “nice”

I've finally found someone who explained my subconscious thought process. Way back, my photography teacher said I had an eye for what is a beautiful photo but I think this is what she really meant. Most educational photo video I've ever watched thanks for this.

Excellent. I would add another important element to a photographer's vision and development. As you state, one is "pattern recognition" but there is another I would call "content recognition". Two examples of this are people's expressions and people's activities. This vision is particularly important to a certain segment of the street photography genre. With these photographers, much of the pattern recognition you've outlined is either ignored or of secondary importance to the interesting, unusual, mysterious, candid, etc. expressions and activities of the people in the photograph. That said .. there are street photographers that straddle that line between fine art photography (where pattern recognition is important) and street photography (where human expressions and actions are important). They skillfully combine them both. Thanks again for the great video.

Bro…. I’m pausing the video at about the 3-minute point. I think this is maybe the second or third video of yours that’s I’ve watch. The content is spot on, genuinely helpful information which will actually benefit many photographers on many different levels. Top work. Thank you. Oh and for reference, I found you bc you created a video explain exactly what the ‘collaboration’ tool does in LR. Pretty much one of the best editing videos I’ve watched on KZbin.

The real secret is not even a secret. it's experience, no shortcut. Some can learn fast, some slow, some has a lot of time to go out and shoot, some don't. Experience and motivation that drives you into getting better every time you push that shutter button is the key for a better Pictures. IMO. Good Vid Man! Subscribed!

Great perspective - I joined VERO because I’m back in the photography game and figured it wound be a good way to have some focus and learn. But I’ve hardly gone on it. It’s just another thing I have to think about doing. So it’s pushed me to analyze the platforms I’m on, why, and whether or not I will continue on all of them. Thanks for always being true and transparent.

This is great. I believe this could have been titled a "composition" video, but the way you've articulated it around "vision" makes the same principles apply to different arts (I can see this applying to music and guitar playing for example). The way you took a step back from camera settings, then from composition techniques, to visual language is genius and beautiful. Thanks.

Something fresh, fast and that speaks to me. I'm with this permanent reflection to go one level further (break my skill ceiling), it's difficult in practice to assemble a lot of languages, but it's important to know your alphabet to compose your vocabulary. The exercise of concentrating on a subject is a very good start, what you say goes in the right direction for me, I like the calm and rhythm of your speech. Greetings from Switzerland (the other Japan without the sea).

This is absolutely one of the most helpful and insightful videos I’ve come across as I try to figure out how to improve as a photographer. I knew I couldn’t speak the language of photography and was relegated to words like “nice”, “beautiful”, and “great shot”, when asked to comment on others’ images in our camera club meetings. Your video really helped my understanding of what I could do to learn to speak photography. Please consider doing other videos where you take us through an image as you did in this video. Thanks so much for the great insights!
