Humans never run out of imagination when it comes to pillaging and looting. Here is some ways to prevent that from happening. This video is brushing the surface on crazy siege defense tactics from history. The last one will surprise you! Let me know if i missed any you would add.

There's another famous three kingdoms story related to your caocao story, where he went to siege a fort occupied by Zhuge Liang. Zhuge Liang didn't have much of an army, so in a crazy mind game, opened the gates of his fort in front of caocao's army to show that it was empty. Caocao who feared it was a trap, ended up retreating. It's known as the 'empty fort strategy' if you want to look it up.

Dude the quality is insane for your size. Two pieces of input. One, you could go down to 720p to trade for a higher framerate. Two, it would be neat if you had something to help visually explain some of your ideas and content. Taking this video, it'd help to have a whiteboard to illustrate some of the weapons and would be pretty funny too. Either way, keep it up because you're gonna blow up fr

Lots of interesting ideas. I would have added people building walls behind their already existing walls.

7:30 Honey and goose feathers smoldering in a pot lowered down into the tunnels worked pretty good also .

Had a great time watching the video. Good pacing, learned some new ideas, and there was some nice humor in there. Cao Cao is pronounced Tsow Tsow btw, not cow cow.

Wait, siege enthusiasts who haven't heard of sorties/sallying forth? Weird, but I'll allow it. 😊 There are also a number of cheap tricks that aren't necessarily well known: ▪︎ Having your own makeshift siege weapons allows your denizens (women, children and the elderly) to participate in combat, by manning simple traction trebuchets aka some _pierriere,_ and supplements other conventional siege weapons you might have in store to target enemy siege weapons and covers. ▪︎ To counter mining operations in addition to wet moats, having your walls going all the way deep underground is a bonus, especially if those deep foundations feature special rooms designed as listening posts, to help guards on duty to hear digging noises. ▪︎ Earth dug up duringn counter mining and rubble from damaged walls and buildings can be used to build a secondary surprise wall behind the main walls where the enemy is trying to breach them. ▪︎ If your garrison has competent cavalry units sitting there doing nothing, you can not only make sorties with them, but you can also send them early on before the enemy fully encircled you. They can forage the surrounding area, strip it of any valuable food, drive off civilians, burn farms and surrounding woods as a scorched earthed tactic (they need timber to build their field fortifications and siege equipment). Then they can bring all that food back behind walls, and if the encirclement is not perfect, you can also send them to disrupt enemy supply lines if they count on using those to prolong the siege. ▪︎ Having means of calling for relief forces and coordinating with them is MVP. Wether it be homing pigeons or concealed tunnels allowing messengers to pass the siege, either is very useful.

The bettering ram sounds like something the Romans would have made. "The mighty roman empire meets your battering ram with what our engineers call the bettering ram. Surrender or die from your betters."
