And those are some LOUD hits once you hear it without commentary.

1993 Neil Bonnett crash at Die Hard 500. After the crash you can hear his breathing. One of the most intense on board I have ever seen.

That was Jack Aitken, from Wikipedia: "His injuries were described as non life-threatening though serious and it was later revealed that he had sustained "a broken collarbone, a fractured vertebra ... and a very small lung contusion"."

I suffered a serious car crash (a head on collision) and I promise I'll never forget the noise. It's hard to describe how loud and sudden it is, it's violent, a mix of crashing and crunching, and last for less than a second

The sound of a car impacting a concrete wall is violent. That massive thud is incredible. The sound of Declan Fraser's Nissan Altima smashing the wall at about 200 km/h was something I doubt I'll forget any time soon.

Should've included the Dario Franchitti/Takuma Sato crash in Houston. That one literally sounded like an explosion.

as a younger fan I used to imagine the sound of a car "crash" being almost an explosion, like one of those sound effects, but the real sound (kind of like a big sack of toasters being dropped from six stories) is scarier -- interesting theme, & now I think commentary should be on a secondary audio channel so we can mute it and just hear the cars if we want

what series was 0:13 and 0:58? i have never seen that one before and those crashes were horrible. also, simona de silvestro's crash was wild without commentary (it was practice).

That sound sucks no matter what kind of race car it's coming from. Every crunch = $$$ and hours in the shop and that doesn't count to hour or two it takes to get what's left back in the trailer so you can go home.
