I find it interesting that of all the books of the Bible Revelation wich was the last written and logically the last one get well known and accepted have at the end a warning for adding scriptures or removing scriptures from it. And what is most interesting is that it's the only book that does this; for me this is a sign that what we have is the canon and that Revelation was really the end of the canon Plus, the subject of this last book is the end of all things, and at its it has this statement of finality like no other books it'S clear that there is a mind behind this work ; however we know it can not be the mind of men because they written decades and even centuries appart.

You know, even if someone didn't think scriptures were inspired and Paul and co just sorta wrote what they felt was right. You gotta remember, these guys were convinced Jesus is Lord more than we do. Based on what he said (I’m not an expert and didn’t look into it), it seems that the document was more than simply a list. @ericdressler163 жыл бұрын
Mike mentioned that there were several cults led by heretics that often twisted Revelations to support their teachings. Either the church thought it best to not include Revelation as a way to disarm these cults, or because Revelation was so easily twisted it caused doubt in the churches that dealt with these cults.

This is a great video but I think Mike had a slip up when he said, "You cant have someone come and write about Moses 500 years after Moses." That opens up a door to the question of, "Well how did Moses write about Abraham, Issac, Jacob, etc. We can hypothesize sources that link the time periods or divine orating. But as far as I know that is a black hole of concrete information unless someone here knows something I dont know.

Mike- You said towards the end, you metion the Gospel of Thomas 2x. Once as read/not accepted and 2. as completely rejected. I think it was a gnostic.I also find it fascinating to read the early Christian writings. Almost like commentaries of their culture, the latest book in the book store...informative, but not inspirited. In debating Infant vs credo baptism, I have referenced the Didiche, which only promoted CB.I would take issue when you say the Montanist were a cult. They were the last formative group to hold to a filled life in the Holy Spirit, claiming the priesthood of all believers. Then the church became ecclesiastical, lifeless, corrupt. That is one world view. Some modern reformed churches are now neo-Catholic by accepting much church tradition, infant Baptism, creeds, etc, and really do not address the papacy and keys to the kingdom claim. IF the church is not catholic, vertical, one under Rome, them what is it, and how far back do you go to break free from papal Rome? Before Augustine? I'm not seventh day Adventist, but their historicist view of eschatology provides a blue print for church history with some preterist elements and some still future elements. Lots to challenge and compare for understanding.

🤔 hmmmmm Catholics site early church fathers as evidence for the papacy and you say,” oh, they do that because it’s not in the Bible. so they go to external sources .” But when you go to the church fathers to establish your canon because it’s not listed in the scriptures you think it’s a valid apologetic. The irony is sweet 😊
