As Hampton Morris builds up to set the USA’s first men’s world record in 55 years, we discover more about his relationship with the sport, his father, and ultimately with himself.
With a run-time of over 40 minutes, the documentary features some deep and touching moments of introspection and conversation between Hampton Morris and his father, Tripp Morris, as well as a 10-day build towards the last-chance Olympic qualifier in Thailand and the fierce battle that ensues.
Watch as the father-son duo navigate the difficult path up through to the very pinnacle of the sport of weightlifting.

love how his dad & couch came across in this:) I watched Nate's documentary and sure didn't think ill of him, but there was some warmth in their connection missing that totally got captured here, what a great team!

Loved this so much and can relate to Hampton as well. Once i found weightlifting I set stricter rules for myself to be able to lift the best that I can. Going to bed early 9 pm, so I can wake up at 4 am and start lifting by 5 am. No drugs or alcohol, counting macros, being mindful of my body so I can be a good weightlifting athlete. I love our USA weightlifting team and i hope they win gold in the Olympics!!!

Thanks for including more of Tripp and their relationship. Not that we are entitled to it, but just because the Hamp the Champ video made me feel worried about it. This capture that it’s hard and complicated, and that they’re both thoughtful about it.

I remember Bob Bednarski, the previous American men's world record holder's world records--waiting for the latest issues of S&H to arrive. I was so disappointed when he failed to qualify for the '68 olympics. But now I have this young man to follow. Bob did come back to win the '69 World in the 242.

Great vid Nate. I saw it originally when it was on Weightliftinghouse TV but I enjoyed it just as much this time around. One thing that seems odd to me is that Hamps competition cl & jk is very close to his trading best but I see at least 7 kg difference in the snatch bests; 127-134. If he can close that gap I still don’t think he’ll beat Li Fabin but he’ll more easily beat Massida or whoever. 133-177 would be frickin awesome. Bring it on home Hamp!

All the best to him! He deserves it as an athlete and a person. But as truly blessed as he is physically an mentally he is also blessed in having in his corner one of the greatest, if not the greatest, weightlifters of all time: the 4 times Olympic Medalist Pyrros Dimas who is seen supporting and celebrating with Nate on all of competitions shown in this documentary. By the way it is beautifully shot - really enjoyed watching it
