Dayton is like any other city, there are beautiful parts of Dayton, pristine suburbs like Kettering, Beaver Creek and Trottwood, old Dayton and also rough hoods. You could live in Dayton for 40 years and never encounter any crime. It’s a shame that people think touring poor areas is entertaining.

What a load of crap. They just drove through the poorest areas. Driving through and acting like you're afraid someone's going to attack you is ludicrous. I live near Dayton now and I've lived in the poor areas of Dayton and I was never robbed, assaulted, or felt threatened. Dayton is a great place to live.

Same I live in Dayton and I'm on Main Street right now. This is considered the crossroads of America where 75 and 70 meet. That might explain some drug activity. We are known for the Wright brothers, aviation, and funk music. 🛩️✈️🎺🎹🎸🎶🎵

Also Dayton has electric buses in some areas. One of the first cities to have them. Dayton used to be noted as one of Americas cleanest cities for many years. Most of it is still very clean.

My mom didn't drive and back in the 60s we use to go downtown to shop on those buses. We loved it. We would go to Rikes Department store. Would go to a diner for lunch. I grewup in Fairborn. My dad was military at WPAFB. My sister lives in Vandalia across from the Airport.

I grew up in Dayton Ohio and I've always hated it here. The city is rundown and the crime and drug culture here is a mess. I will say they are doing a great job revamping Downtown Dayton. It's actually looking a lot better with the mega library, gentrified apartment buildings, and small businesses.

I moved from Brooklyn, NYC to Dayton 2 1/2 years ago to be with my fiance. I have lived in Westwood off of 3rd ave for over 2 years, and i have to say ya'll must be used to driving around in the burbs because "the hood" in Dayton is one of the chillest places i have ever lived. We dont even lock our doors at night. I have lived in Brooklyn NY, New Haven and Hartford CT, southeast San Diego CA, and Dayton's "Ghettos" are nicer than 90% of the suburbs in those cities. Drive through Hartford, CT and tell me Dayton is scary 😂🤣😂🤣

I love how this video starts out at my old house right across the street from the Mexican grocery store on Troy St. It's not a Hispanic neighborhood, though. It was originally settled by Germans and is now a diverse neighborhood with a pretty big Turkish and German population and people of all races and nationalities. Dayton is known for its high crime rate, but its mostly confined to certain neighborhoods. There are a lot of nice old historical neighborhoods on every side of town. About 80% of the metro population lives in the suburbs and the suburbs are mostly pretty nice, especially the south suburbs. The suburbs are also where you'll find most of the restaurants and night life.

I watched this video and it was cool until you got to the part where you were driving between Desoto Bass and Washington Arms housing projects & you started talking sh?t because you saw an empty Patron Box and you started saying that those people couldn’t drink it because they live in the project’s, and that they were drinking on your dime and you can’t put your signature on that. That was dead wrong who are you to say what someone can drink because of where they live? I live on the other side of town but I used to live in that area so I’m speaking up for those that still live over there. Just like you spoke about people that get EBT it’s not cool & you need to watch what you say.

I was born in Dayton at Miami Valley Hospital. You want hood. Start filming on Salem Ave, Make a right on Harvard Street. go to Richmond. make a left. make another left and drive up Ferndale. go to Manhattan street. then go to Kenwood street. Go to Delaware street or even fountain street. Go to Main Street. Go to forest street and make right on grand ave. go past Grandview Hospital. might as well make a stop at Rally's on the corner of Salem and grand and get the big buford combo with a drink. Go down Riverview Street make a right on Broadway. turn left on superior. make a right on catalpa. go to grand ave. or even Lexington. make a right. YOUR IN THE HOOD. GO to Gettysburg, YOUR IN THE HOOD. LOL.

Dayton "The Gem City" has a lot to offer if you look past it's rundown shell. It's known for the Wright Brothers and a long history of important inventors and music artists, the 5 rivers, a great selection of parks and one of the longest bike trail networks in the country. It has many great local breweries and restaurants. Wright Patt Air Force Base and National Air Force Museum. One of the most affordable cost of living in the U.S. Dayton has many great programs, food banks, churches, etc..that help people in need. That may contribute to a smaller and better off homeless population. To others comparing to Columbus, there is far less of a homeless problem in Dayton and less crime for sure. The people are edgy but mind there own business which is why property crime is not bad. Violent crime is bad in some areas because people pay for their crimes with their lives, it's a bit like the wild west. Most of the recent break ins I can remember ended up with the homeowner shooting the intruder. If you spend time here you will find that many of the edgy hard looking folks are very nice, with a mixture of crazies that for the most part still mind their own business. Thanks for taking the time to show different areas in Dayton, you are welcome back.

Looks like you were in east Dayton. I was born and raised in Gary, Indiana, 20 miles east of Chicago. I lived in Dayton for over 20 years. Downtown in the St Clair lofts..in Dayton View...and a few more places. I've been all around America and Dayton isnt in the top 25 dangerous cities no matter what the FBI says. Those stats are based off per capita and Dayton has a smaller population than cities like Columbus or Cincinnatti. Both cities are more dangerous than Dayton. Places like Chicago, Detroit, Gary, Indianapolis, are way worse than Dayton. Trust me. In Dayton, everyone knows everyone.

Does have some Mexican but is mostly white old German , polish and a lot of Immigrants from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Serbia and Turkey. Most here call them Russian but that will piss em off if you do it to their face lol... these immigrate are actually cleaning up the neighborhood one house at a time . That neighborhood is considered old North Dayton. Too bad you weren't in the neighborhood during business hours because you drove past The Best Deli within 100 miles @4:42 on the right, Charlie's Deli.

Something that may make the video more interesting, is to read some facts about the place you’re visiting. Regarding Dayton, there’s a few world headquarters (Mead, Reynolds’s & Reynolds’s, NCR to name a few) and some interesting events, places to go (like the Air Force Museum). I thought of a similar idea, where I’d visit rust belt towns, and talk to older folks who experienced the de-industrialization of the US, how it affected the standard of living. I grew up in a suburb of Dayton, and it’s really a varied town. The ‘west side’ of Dayton, is the bad part. It’s on the western side of I-75. As you head south, into the suburbs, it gets more and more affluent. We used to go to the west side drive thru liquor stores in high school to get booze. Good times!

Agreed. I feel like he only explored central dayton at least for the amount that I watched. The better areas are nowhere near the downtown area. And the area he’s in and on down main is still suffering from the 2019 tornado aftermath years later. The city unfortunately is terrible in my opinion seeing how the main area of the city is ran down (downtown) but really everyone has migrated and forced our “downtown life” to move to suburban areas with malls close by. Central dayton is trash 😕 miamisburg, Huber, & Fairborn are more lively

Many don't leave Dayton. They love their neighborhood. This side of town that you have posted they call trailer park. Every city should show the beautiful side as well.West side just happen to be another troubled side as every city has a side of roughness. This rough side is trailer park. I feel this was your neighborhood as a child and there is nothing wrong with you going down your childhood memory in your old neighborhood. It definitely brings you back your memories. Any nice home you see, is owned by Turkish. You want to see the worst part of Dayton head to the East Dayton and the West Side. You will be approached to buy drugs, by prostitutes, and junkies. It's a mixed area, part poor/lower middle class, part industrial area. Whatever source this guy got his info from regarding Dayton's supposed "dangerousness" vs. other areas of other cities, I've yet to see it in my years here. Guy got some bad info. Most dangerous places I've been were in North Philly just north of U. Penn campus, and Compton, California. North Philly looked like Beirut after the war in the 70s. I'm not even 30 seconds in and I had to comment. I'm from LA. First of all. We have ONE OF THE the highest POVERTY rate of any city in OHIO. Top 10 in the country I do believe. Not even anywhere close to having the highest crime rate even if "depending on how you look at it". Unless you straight turned whatever charts you're getting upside down. There's no gangs in Dayton. Therefore Chicago, LA, New Haven, Baltimore, Akron, New York City, all have petty crime rates that tower over our violent crime rates. The fact that you have so many subscribers is terrifying. You literally just spout out whatever YOU'RE hood scared opinions are while you drive around talking about places you don't even fact check. I've never been afraid to walk around at night, ride the bus, or lock my car or house. I live in what you say is one of the "scariest areas in America". I'm going to skip watching the rest of this, give you the benefit of the doubt, and choose to believe this is satire and meant to be as funny as it already has been. Trash.

Grew up in Dayton, had family that also grew up there from the 20s-now. I can assure you, Dayton is a trashy town. Don't let anybody tell you different. If you're skirting the edge of downtown, anywhere, you're in the hood. To be fair, the city has been making an effort to drive out those that make it so, so it's been getting cleaner. And while I'm not sure where you're getting your statistics from, Dayton is far from being the most violent city in the country. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty crime ridden, but it's pretty quiet most of the time. It's no Detroit and it's no Chicago. But if it's dilapidated, hood-like areas you're looking for, Riverside, Northridge, Salem Ave., Hill Crest, anywhere on 48 north. To differentiate the areas, West Side, all the places I just listed, is where the dangerous crime is, and East Side, basically the area around Smithville and 3rd St. is where the druggies and prostitutes are. If you ever hear someone from Dayton talking about East Side dirty butts, that's what they're talking about. North Dayton is Miller Lane, Vandalia, if you hit 70, that's basically where it ends, an argument can be made for Clayton, Trotwood, Englewood (also known as Engleweed). South Dayton is Moraine, West Carrollton, Kettering, Oakwood (this is where the big/old money is), Centerville, Miamisburg, Springboro. Northeast Dayton is Beavercreek, Fairborne, and WPAFB/Museum. Ask locals about food though. Lots a great places to eat and to go, even in the iffy parts.

Dayton has its share of crime but its not all that bad as people make it sound. Your video starts out in what is called Old North Dayton. There is alot of crime as in people breaking into cars, empty houses and garages in that area, that kind of thing. But this is nowhere near Cleveland or Detroit crime levels. The murder rate averages around 40 per year, which is very low considering. The worst thing about Dayton is the damn streets as can be seen in this video.
