Love this! It gives much more accurate rankings and it's surprising to see how much some names move on the list. Some names have multiple legitimate spellings (like Sophia/Sofia or Elizabeth/Elisabeth) while others are a consequence of the "need to be unique" trend where parents change up the spelling for the purpose of being unique or different (names like Kinsley/Kinslee/Kinsleigh come to mind).

Thank you so much for this! I love looking into the stats of names, but the other person I follow on KZbin is in the UK, so it's not the right stats for my country! 😅

Definitely changed my mind on a few names now knowing the real popularity of it

Love these "real" lists. The girls list makes more sense to me as a former preschool teacher. I noticed you had Sebastian in your top 20 for boys, but it was also in the bumped from top 20 list. Curious if Sebastian still makes the cut.

Oh that's my bad lol! Sebastian is in the "real" top 20, not bumped out. The names and data started looking blurry after a while😂

@@babynamehelp I can imagine so. I appreciate all the effort! I'm a data nerd too 🤓

I invite you to consider using a font that is easier to read on a small phone screen next time. 😊

That was interesting. I find including other spelling makes it much more accurate a picture of popular names. x

Thank you for the hard work of putting this together! I was super excited to see this video posted. I am very surprised that Eliana and Riley are so popular for girls. That's interesting that Jack and Jackson are both so popular. Jack will probably stick around for a while.

I also think Jack will stand the test of time over Jackson

It'd be interesting to see how many obvious nicknames can be combined to measure popularity. I.e. all the longer names variations for Leo or Theo. There's probably a lot of Theodores going by Theo as a nickname.

I think you are right. Not entirely sure I'd be able to do this with great accuracy because it would involve a lot of guessing nicknames and attributing them to specific names unfortunately

Camilla and Camila are two different names and are pronounced differently
@babynamehelpАй бұрын
While the names originated with different pronunciations, this has no longer been true in my experience with people who have both spellings. In other languages, they are pronounced differently for sure, but with the rise of alternative spellings in English, I have heard Camilla and Camila pronounced the same.
