As you probably already know, Kansas is home to several beautiful and historic castles that range from small and modest all the way up to large and impressive. Sauer Castle in Kansas City, however, may just be the most memorable of them but maybe for all the wrong reasons…
Even in its early years, the house was the location for several unfathomable tragedies, including the untimely death of Mr. Sauer in 1879 and the hanging of his wife, Mary, in 1919. The home stayed in the family and welcomed the next generations of Sauer family members, which in turn brought more harrowing deaths by both grave illness and suicide. With these deaths, rumors of grizzly murders, and other alleged folklore, the home became a hotbed to fans of the paranormal as well as ghost hunters. The Home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Construction.

So happy the home was recently purchased and is being restored to it's former glory. They have already taken great steps to mitigate further deterioration.❤

There are things you just can't explain like where are used to live at 119 State Street Batavia New York. It is a very old house built in 1914. And I was going to the bathroom at night and I saw an apparition of a little girl with a bonnet. It didn't phase me I didn't think about it till the next day it wasn't a mean ghost I guess. But I saw it again I saw it three times the same Apparition standing by the really old fireplace. When my son got older we're having a drink on New Year's and I was telling him about it and he said he also saw The Apparition. I think I have the $0.06 and I can tell when things are there like in my garage upstairs it's really old and it really feels like cold chills and Somebody's Watching You that's what it feels like when a ghost is there. They are everywhere

@@addicted2baseballrgd21 Thank you for that- this house has so much potential and is a lot better to restore than some of the newer homes they build today. Thanks again. ( "addicted" had posted a link but now it's gone-a man took some people on a tour through the house and it was a video of that)

Sad that it's deteriorated so much. It's starting to get past the point of being worth repairing.

I was taken on a tour of the place maybe 15 years ago. Crazy story actually...it was Halloween night and we went there just to touch the back of he house. There were caretakers that surprised us at gunpoint for trespassing and after much yelling back and forth I guess they realized we meant no harm and took us inside...right inside the back of the house was a very small dining area (not formal) with a table and chairs. In the table they had a tape recorder and played what was in there from the night before. Lots of cabinet doors banging repeatedly and chairs being slid across the room loudly. The basement was flooded at the time so we couldn't go downstairs. But upstairs was the bedroom that supposedly the wife died in bed and the old iron framed bed was still there. They even took us us to the widows peak (maybe the wrong name but the tower on top).... they showed us the beam that supposedly the husband had hung himself from. We stood on top on the tower which had a 2 foot tall fence around the perimeter. Super unnerving. As we were being shown around they were telling stories of it being haunted and I was not really buying it... but standing back at our car as we looked back at the house there was a figure of a woman in the window of the bedroom that she died in ( 2nd story...2nd window from the left) I have never believed in such things until then and will never forget this place

I'm surprised the Kansas City H8storical Society has not set upon conserving the Hiuse, due to it's obvious Historical Value. The Architecture and the exterior bricks + design details are clearly priceless.

I went there once and so did my dad. He came back and said "there was this dog-like thing in my face and it was like...barking in my face. there was a fence and I felt the breath!" (He went on Halloween)The last time i went, i took a picture and there was this weird ghost like thing in the window. It was super weird!!! The story is when Sauer's daughter died, he hung himself in the bell tower. I hope this helps.

It's still owned by the original family's descendents. I don't think the register can touch it.

I saw a huge spirit dragging a real body and slamming it up against a wall. Blood was flying everywhere. I ran, then snuck back later, not a drop of blood to be found.
