Technically you don’t have to learn anything new if you know the entire guitar neck. Think of it as a mini guitar with a permanent fifth fret capo. I always think of it as learning new tunings instead of learning another instrument. If I tune them the same, I can play any of them. I keep my banjo in dgbe like a guitar’s first 4 or baritone uke to open up more music without transposing. I can capo at fret 5 to have typical uke tuning and the 5th string is a high g. Learn the entire neck and a guitalele wont be any trouble. I do agree that it is dumb to think of it as a new instrument though. All standard ukes are small 4 string guitars with a permanent capo. Baritone ukes are small bodied 4 string guitars without a capo. Standard banjo tuning is different so you really just learn a new tuning and style. Most strings are similar enough that if you can play one, the other wont be an issue unless you have to use a bow or plan to play in a new tuning or style. These are my personal thoughts and how I approach things. It has helped me to enjoy the instruments more for sure. Edit: I know they are different instruments and I respect each one for those differences but this is just what helps me. If you are reading this and it doesn’t help you, please just ignore me. I just like music.

I have a Yamaha Guitalele and it is by far my favorite instrument ever. It is super fun. Way better then a typical tenor ukulele. I just wish their was more content about it, like tutorials and reviews. Also, It is a little more complex than your typical ukulele. Other than that it is awesome.

@@lxkakkarot3689 guitarlele is a low-G ukulele plus low D and low A, both of which exist on the guitar. So you can use uke tuner for some of the strings and a guitar tuner for other strings.
@brumm36534 жыл бұрын
Also, for chord shapes, look for guitar chord shapes. Then google for the circle of fifths. From guitar to guitalele you move by one position anticlockwise on the circle. So guitar C-major shape sounds like F-major etc.

NOT STUPID!!!!!! I love mine - I got it for the pandemic lockdown, and bought your course, and I've been able to play with uke friends, and practice music that has chords written for guitar. It is small enough for my tiny mouse-sized hands. The range is roughly where my vocal range is. It is great!

My household has 3 ukuleles(one is my fiancé’s) a banjolele, and a guitalele. I only use my banjolele for finger style, which I’m not good at right now so it doesn’t get used much, but I love all my instruments. I’ve had my guitalele for about a month now.

I have a Guitalele by Ashbury model au40g and I love it, it is tuned as a guitar EADGBE. I play guitars not ukes so this is small with a full width neck and good for travel. It's Great..
@TomTomTomTom538 Жыл бұрын
I got one for travelling but I wish I'd just got a smaller guitar instead. It's ok if your mainly going to use it as a uke but if you're only going to play guitar chords on it its a bit cramped and the neck is really uncomfortable! I tune mine down a step so it's more similar sounding to a guitar too.

You can get to play far more intricate chords on a guitarlele than a Uke. And you can take it anywhere and if you have one with a pickup you can amplify it
@Ukelikethepros2 жыл бұрын
I agree. The extra 2 strings allow for much more bass and range on the guiatrlele

@vaibhav sahai The G string of the guitarlele is the same as the Low G string of the ukulele. Because the Lower A and D strings are there on the guitarlele, I think it wouldn't make sense to tune the G string to a High G, (which would sound out of place,) if it were not impossible to tune it high to begin with.
