Yeah that was my experience last weekend. Went out and threw 6 different jerkbaits, a ned rig, a glide, a lipless, a ned rig, a chatterbait, and a swim jig. Not even a bite, we just had a big freeze over here too and the water temps are pretty chilly

I think that crank bait was a Norman brand. They usually use the Yellow eyes
@brianathern91547 ай бұрын
That was a tough grind buddy and maybe the Ned rig was the way to go. The crankbait was either a Norman or a pretty worn out Rebel Shad. I've got a couple of each plus the Shad Raps and Flickr shads. I'm going to tough out a St Paddy's day weekend up in Chicago especially if its post warm up. Pond bass will tear up spoons and spinnerbaits here.

I fished that same spot and saw that orange bobber. Almost grabbed it but thought, what do I need a bobber for? Fishing was not good for me either.

I'll tell you alex, you learned either sit on a block of ice with a 36-in fishing pole or you go ahead and just find open water and try and fish for trout which is what I do.
@johnhodson32008 ай бұрын
Now that you have the skeeter you need to get yourself the money pole. I believe it's at profound outdoors. It reaches out to 18 foot I believe.

Curious why you didn't just cut some line off your cranking setup to use as leader for your ned rig? Not ideal but would get you by.

Alex do you ever fish Cherokee or Norris any?
@AlexRuddFishing7 ай бұрын
Yes
@rougaroux23597 ай бұрын
@@AlexRuddFishing with that said have you noticed the quality of fish decline on Norris and Cherokee? The size I used to catch has dropped drastically.
@AlexRuddFishing7 ай бұрын
Yes and no. The reason I say that is because I’ve seen a decline in areas big fish use to live and increase in areas where they release for tournaments. The massive amount of tournaments they’re having on those lakes have moved a large population of fish and concentrated them in certain areas. They’ve also moved bigger the average fish allowing the smaller class fish to take their place. They’ve also killed a certain amount of fish as well. So yes there’s a decline in size due to tournament fishing and the movement/mortality of fish.
