I feel like this song encapsulates 90% of what God of War Ragnarök is. It isn't an uplifting tale, it isn't the kind of story that makes you jump in the air and cheer when the bad guys are defeated. It's a story about a father trying to stop prophecy and protect his son. A son trying to find his place in the world and prevent a dark fate for his father. A mother who seeks vengeance on the man that killed her son, and is learning to heal from the scars that were left by her abusive husband. Another father who's trying to be better for his wife and daughter, but ends up paying for it with his life. And a ruler of a kingdom trying to stop his own death and gain the possible knowledge to become unstoppable. Almost none of it is joyful in any way, it's a tragic story that shows the consequences of war, there may be better endings than others, but none of them are squeaky clean. War never is.

Beautifully written. This music captures all of God of Wars unique atmosphere. That sense of dread you always felt while playing the game cause you know there are higher powers at play that not even Kratos can control or forsee. It started to get very serious when in the 2018 game Magni and Modi were killed. You felt that this was the beginning of the end. Especially cool and atmospheric was the scene when Kratos was on the boat having visions of Athena while at the same time Thor was so angry that the sky was turning into a thunderstorm.

The uneasyness this track made me feel when we arrived at Asgard and the war was raging on, the so far unlikely alliance of realms now present going at the Aesir forces to face probable death, and then in the middle of that, a General who's been on an end of the world kind of scenario before, slowly making his way to the conflict with a different world view than he had the first time, now with his son who he had hoped so much to spare from the horrors of war at his side. Their forces start to be defeated, the enemy with it's infinite army of undead succesfully overwelming and preventing reinforcements, desperation as they battle their way to an unknown outcome, hoping for a less darker one, innocent put in the way of the attacking forces... well anyway, i guess this score nails it

@arkazel195 Couldn't have said it better, it's clear that no one taking part in the war really wants to be there, and for us that connected with the characters, going into the "unknown", risking losing another character dear to us really added to the tension; The thing completes itself with the Thor boss fight for me, seeing his rage not because he's a monster, but because he actually cares about something, his home, his family, all being ripped apart by the war he always heard about, the one that would destroy everything he loved for once.

Listening to this, made me remember that part in the original gow where it is implied all future wars would have Kratos involved behind it (as the god of war). And then i got the picture of a modern war scene fought with this theme as the background.. kinda cool

I'm not sure epic is the right word. It was very sad, seeing Kratos with his son going on a war that he tried so much to avoid, hoping to spare Atreus from the horrible things that war is. And this music just amplify these feelings. This war wasn't supposed to be epic, but they tried to did it anyway, because they're God of War fans as much as we are, and God or War is definition of epic.

He could've, however he changed for the better, it is implied that he would have died if he fought thor & odin out of revenge instead of justice. Because the norns aren't actual prophets and just guessed that he would never change and continue fighting for revenge, they believed he would die because of that, but he proved them wrong by changing
