How she treated her mother when she returned home floored me. I understand you don’t want to live in her shadow and how it affected you being the missing woman’s daughter. But to say you wish she’d just disappear again after she gets home is low. I’ve been a nanny for 10 years and I’ve seen milestones in kids lives with the parents and I can 100% see where Rachel was coming from with wanting to have quality time with her make her food she liked knowing her hobbies and taking interest in her life. Big bonding moments for Rachel were viewed as inconveniences for Bel. I wanted to slap her around a bit not gonna lie, coming from someone who’s partner is cynical and misanthropic
@heididischler8 ай бұрын
This is exactly how I felt!! She was so ungrateful and treated every kindness from Rachel as something that had an ulterior motive. Like girl she just wants to know you since she’s been trapped for fifteen years 🤦🏻♀️

@@shutuplease08 I just said how I felt about her interaction with her mother not my overall thoughts on her as a person nor my opinion and how it changed after she finds out how her father manipulated her. I agree that she’s extremely well written and everything was set up perfectly to that moment she called Rachel mom. These two statements can be true at the same time as Jackson also wrote her to be unlikeable initially

Didn’t ash stop recording before they opened up the truck? Also I was kind of stuck on the fact they kept telling Sherry that Jeff was waiting for her and obviously he wasn’t. It was crazy giving Sherry the idea her new life with Jeff will be okay. Like idk didn’t sit right with me

I feel like I read when Bel was confessing to her mother that she was investigating her, she said that Ash had footage of Charlie but I could be wrong! And yeahhh it didn’t sit well with me either. Like Carter hated Sherry enough to just let that happen? Seemed kinda iffy to me.

@@heididischlerYeah. I was kinda confused on how someone could realistically leave the person who raised them for 15 years behind just because they're not blood related and they met their biological mom like 4 weeks ago. That whole Sherry thing was weird

The thing I didn't like about the book was how carter just abandoned her mother like I just don't think someone could so instantly not choose a person who they spent their life with, the perso who raised them, that seemed off to me, like really? And the last part of Ramsey also set me off
@_gsyt_73925 ай бұрын
Sherry was also willing to give up her daughter with almost no conflicts, kinda suggests what kind of mother she was
@heididischler5 ай бұрын
I did find it kind of weird that Carter could just abandon the person she called mom for her whole life, but I have a really good relationship with my mom, so I can’t relate to that much. Also, their whole fam was crazy, so that’s the only thing that made it feel a little more believable 😂😂. Not to mention, Carter had to be in like four different stages of shock after all the things that went down 👀.
@XeaRae4 ай бұрын
I had the similar feeling. I knew it was her dad from the first 5 chapters and the rest of the book was just waiting to see how who was his collaborator. So watching Bel dig her heals and bark up the wrong three for the biggest part of the book was so tedious. I like the nail baiting chase at the end. Everything that come after that wrapped up to easily though. Sherry just following blackmail orders and Carter happily letting go of the only parents she knew. Documentary folks happily forgoing months of filming cost. And the trio living with such a huge family secret that they had no one to talk about but each other. Like all three of them would need boatloads of therapy to process what happened but due to them hiding the evidence, none of them would have the opportunity to ever process it and would live with this massive secret. First third of the book: 2/5 Middle of the book: 3/5 Finale: 5/5 Resolution: 2/5

1.) I hate that they don’t acknowledge Sherry not letting Carter eat. The only one who does is Rachel, and it’s viewed as her trying to manipulate Carter. It’s concern! And Bel, who’s supposed to be the one who knows Carter best, doesn’t notice it at all! 2.) Ash was too good for Bel. I agree with you completely on that. 3.) Did Patrick get his medicine?! I was really just… bothered by those things. I remembered loving the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Series (until the second half of As Good As Dead) and Five Survive, and I read this book in two days with high hopes. It just made me kind of sad.

And yes, as a 16 year-old girl I get that she went through traumatic things and she's a teenager, she can be moody and be suspicious of everything but it she's was indeed so mean especially to her mom...almost like most of the book is just hating her mom and the ending I was weirded out too..like why can't they tell the police...

I tried to read this but stopped at around chapter 15. Just found the book difficult to read and Bel was unbearable. I also didn't like the repetitiveness on writing like with the knot in Bel's gut. I found your video after trying to search for a summary of all that happens which has been tough but I'm happy to have found you review with spoilers. Basically, 2/3 of the book was spent giving exposition and "im so mad and suspicious of my mother, and I hate her for that" content. And the last third, for me atleast, was like everything else was forgotton, and it felt really rushed. Like how could Carter just let her grandma go like that after she's been her mom(like without a doubt actual mom) for 15 years. It just seems so off and I agree with many comments like the part where Ash is just there to be bullied and that the romance was completely "wrong", or giving sherry the fake idea that jeff is waiting in Canada. Overall, I would rate this book 2.5/5, a bit worse than Good girl bad blood in imo (which for me was a 3, with agggtm and agad being straight up 5/5 and 4.5/5). I'd love to discuss tho

But I have a lot of people disagree with me on this 😂🙈.
