Where has the full episode gone Steve? I was so excited to watch the whole episode but it's now showing as private? Love Annie, went to see one of her before midnight shows in Bristol last month and the crowd where incredible - literally the nicest bunch of people ever.

I grew up listening to Annie Mac, it would always be my staple listing to the Friday night dance shows then the musical hot water bottle on a Sunday night. Really miss hearing Annie on the radio now but never knew how much she was taking on behind closed doors. Really pleased everything has worked out for her though :)

Are you a Johnston? Only asking cause I am 😂 and I think the full episode is gone cause the BBC probably had some shit to say 🤔 ❤

She looks exactly like a dinner lady from my primary school in the 80s. Same hair, same earrings, same lipstick. It's uncanny.

Strange! She mentioned school lunches in this too even weirder

Yeah, she aged out; that's the natural thing to happen. The thing with club culture, to be brutally honest, is it's for the young, and there is that sweet spot where you are 30 and the audience is 20, and you can still party hard and be in that world, but once you hit 40, it's over - you can't relate to two generations below, they are children. There are exceptions, the Pete Tongs, Carl Cox, and Sven Vath type 50s/60s elder statesmen, but they are a unique group who play the game on their own terms; on the whole, the last thing in the world someone who is in their mid-40s wants is to be out at 3am surrounded by teenage drug takers, so it won't be fun at that point, you can't party anymore for health reasons unless your going down the road of being an addict, and you have kids and responsibilities, your basically a sober shift worker/children's entertainer watching the party rather than being in it. She did well to get out with a decent career behind her and to move onto new pastures because the ones that don't fuck their health up really badly.

I thought it sounded like she was phoning it in on Radio 1 for years to be honest.

I never really got the hype with her tbh 🤷♂️ tended to play the same old stuff

Just give it a break, I'd like to see you try

@@annadelargy If I was given the chance to play on R1 I'd gladly play proper up coming unsigned music and not the same shite play list :) I've been DJing a long time and always look out for the unsigned, something Annie never really did unless you paid to get on a playlist.

Daytime djs never get the chance to play music that they got sent instead they play what the higher ups want to hear
