I'm happy for her. But let's be honest. This isn't a story about a brave woman, charting a path to freedom and equality for other women. This is a story of privilege and the fact that money, fame, royalty and the privilege they bring open doors and allow you rights that regular people do not have. But, the world likes Hollywood endings, so we'll go with the former storyline.

The hope is it still creates a precedent that will help other women. A journey is made of small steps...
@MarshaABranch4 ай бұрын
@@mimisor66 - What one hopes and what actually is, or actually happens often do not align. Rules do not change because of what royals get to do. The fact is that she always had that privilege. She ranked higher than her husband. We need to understand the rules if we truly want to effect change. And hoping that things will change because a princess exercised a liberty ordinary women can't will not bear fruit. What it creates is angry men who decide they want to teach their wives a lesson if they dare "step out of line" like Mahra did. A precedent would be Mahra getting involved in politics and working to implement legislation to change things, even if those attempts are repeatedly thwarted. Or, more simply, standing up to her father to press for better lives for her sisters, who do not share the favour from their father that Mahra has; and two of whom are practically imprisoned by their own father, simply for wanting the better lives we seem to think Mahra's actions will bring about for other women.
@mimisor664 ай бұрын
@@MarshaABranch we are both talking as outsiders. Yes, she has a lot of privilege. But one cannot dismiss the power of example and how it can create acceptance and thus a new normality. In history, sometimes a few privileged women opened the way for other less privileged women. Let's not discount that! Seems to me the Western world is promoting more and more a marxist view of the world, with such a strong highlight on class distinctions, scary for us that lived through it.

My ex-husband pulled that same crap. I married him, but he continued to date. We had a very lavish wedding at a prestigious and exclusive CT country club. It cost about as much as the average house at that time. We had only been married for 2 months and 3 weeks when I found out that he had never stopped seeing other women. I called my dad and told him what I had learned and within 2 hours I had a lawyer and a legal separation. I have often thought how blessed I am to live in the west. There are women all over the globe who are forced to stay in bad marriages due to their religion and culture. I am thrilled at the thought of that beginning to change.

By the way that family member was one of the people who helped to raise me. It's so sad that I was stuck for 2.5 years due to social, and family failings. I live in a red state, conservative , therefore, mostly inclined to discourage divorce, both, for moral AND political reasons. You do not need to prove abandonment (most states) YOU DO NOT NEED TO prove causality ( just😊 cause) since you only need to cite irreconcilable differences to file for divorce ( no guilty party). Unless the plaintiff is suing the defendant in criminal court ovr😊

If you look at history a little, man can divorce by saying "i divorce you" 3 times. The only women that could divorce in the same way, were the women with royal blood. Only thing is the sultan had the last word to say. So how is it than?

If Dubai wants to modernise, and to be seen to modernise and give women the equal rights they are entitled to in to 21st century, then they need to uphold the wedding values and commitment of one man to one woman.

I see this coming. Her ex husband stay in USA until few days before the wedding. He gave an excuse of being in school. We all know that husband must leave everything behind to support their wife before the wedding plus she was pregnant too. This is not fair.

Stands like a "pillar for woman's right?". She's privilege because she's her father's favorite. Meanwhile her sisters are where? Justice for everyone or just for her. No admiration for a self serving privileged woman.

I'm extremely proud of her! She is bold and introduced change to the world in which women are humiliated in unjust ways in many areas of their lives! However, my desire is that she forgives the father of her child. It is best to bring him back into her daughter's life. I'm pray that by now, he has learned a very hard lesson forever more! I am praying for them in the name of Jesus Christ. I pray someone will go preach the gospel to Sheikh Mana at the UK.🙏

It all comes down to how he sees their mothers. He shows favor to the offspring of the women that he favors best. It’s very tribal, very primitive. These are not sophisticated individuals, not by a mile. He loves his foreign women the most (Mahra’s mother is Greek) so by consequence he favors his mixed offspring. Before Princess Haya of Jordan left him his favorite daughter was the daughter that he had with her, Al Jalila. He would prance about at the royal escort in London with her, his daughter Al Jalila, by the arm; something that he had never done with any of his daughters. Mahra has been her replacement ever since. He uses her to triangulate and show Al Jalila, who is now with her run away mother in London, that he’s found a new favorite. It’s all one very petty, awfully immature game for him. He loves no one, he’s too evil, self-centered and entitled for that. Mahra should know that if she wants to avoid any future disappointment.

There will come a time she will not be his favorite anymore. I think the mum plays still a big role behind the scènes in the way the Sheik looks a the Princess. It is all about the mother and the mother stays very close to the Princess so she can protect her. The favorite daughter is the child of the favorite wife.

How incredibly naive of him thinking he can disregard not only his ex wife's feelings but think he was going to hurt the rulers FAVORITE DAUGHTER and not have any punishment 🤔 . Mahra ex husband should've known better. I wish baby Mahra and her mother a long and happy life as for Manna better luck next time maybe choose a wife that is less knowledgeable and visible in the public eye , I'm just saying .I mean think about all the problems that might happen before disregard your present life HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE.😊

He did not only insult his wife, but all the royal dubai family as his wife was not an ordinary woman but the Dubai ruler's beloved daughter, plus it was her father that has choosen him as her husband! Some say it is ok as he has the right of a second marriage according to islamic low. We are not talking of marriage here, (he is just married), but of cheating through marriage. Acording ro sharia law he can be sentenced to jail or paying big fine for his infidelity through marriage. In this case particularly, the couple was just one year married and she was pregnant to their first child. Here it is obvious that he kept one of his mistresses that had before marriage! That he married princess Mahra responding to her father's will, just trying to take the advantage to become the husband of a royal daughter and be son in law of a king in order to have all the prviledges out if this. This aldo saws the character of Manah! I am sure that the Dubai ruler is also personally offended and will punish him for his infodelity!

I’m so proud of her, Muslim meh usually cheat and feel free do do so. She took a stand against infidelity that Muslim men do and if women did it they usually get sentenced to death. She’s a beautiful woman that stands her ground instead of falling for Muslim men cheating ways. Yea she’s privileged but the common Muslim woman has to take the infidelity and it’s sad. Proud of her sticking up for herself and her self respect.
