The reason why HeavyBlow* and SteadyBody are OP

Heavy Blow decreases the required amount of hits per stagger by 1. This makes a great difference when keeping in mind that you can land at least 3 hits per stagger.

lowering the amount of hits to stagger by one is pretty good for chain staggering. is it a great strat for lost kin (or any boss), no. but you can guarantee 3 hits per stagger, and making it so they stagger more often is good. quick slash is making it go faster. plus, heavy blow is keeping them in the corner and makes it easier to push them into the other corner. combine this with getting no knockback yourself because of steady body. the point of the video is to show how oddly OP heavy blow + steady body can be.

In hollow knight you can do what is called 'overcharming'. So basically if you have at least 1 charm notch left, then you can equip any charm even if the cost is too big. HOWEVER you will take doubled damage from all sources. In this video I had 10/11 notches used, an equiped quickslash after that to get 13/11.

It makes the boss stagger faster? Since you can get 3 or even 4 hits for free each stagger having that 1 hit reduction is significantly more noticable. Also for playing hitless it doesnt hurt to keep bosses away from you, especially bosses like markoth and oblobbles. I have a strategy for markoth which uses heavy blow and nailarts and it is super consistent and comfortable to use. I killed radiant markoth 26 times back to back with it

Your character sprite does not accurately show your hitbox, especially when attacking. The knight leans over a bit but your hitbox remains completely the same. @@Bosjesmannen like who? Hornet? I don't see much of a use of moving her away from me if that was an issue in the first place. The hit and chase playstyle is extremely inefficient. If you want to do hitless, then it is as you said best to keep your distance. But heavy blow doesn't cancel any animations or attacks anyways, meaning that the enemy will come to you anyways. If hornet charges at you and you hit her, she wont stop attacking but still charge at you.

There is no need because the blowaway is already high enough without heavy blow. the 1 hit stagger is absolutely irrelevant in most fights, since your usage of abyss shriek is the staggering point. Using spells in those runs is kind of essential. You also did against Markoth. Even if he doesn't stagger, the 1 less stagger hit is only useful against the couple bosses that have a low stagger rate. If you compare heavy blow to a charm like spell twister, which cost the same amount heavy blow is just the worse option.

And even for playing safe, having perfect control of your character is insane for 1 charm notch. Since hollow knight has no 360 degree input, and movement speed is not acceleration based, keyboard is not worse than a controller. In fact I prefer it as it feels more precise.

Exactly finally someone said this, it’s near impossible to heal with those balloons coming at you. Even radiant it’s so much easier having to barely worry about the baloons
