He and Joel both tend to respond to "Chat" as if it were a single entity, rather than hundreds/thousands of individuals happening to reach a majority consensus, and they often voice their disagreement with "Chat" as if talking to one person. In return, a lot of chat members sort of embrace their role as one tiny part of this gestalt pseudo-person (if not intentionally), and they join the ocean of other chat members writing stupid all-caps-and-emotes responses. Honestly, the psychology of it all fascinates me.
