I went through a time in my life where l had a burnout and l was so overwhelmed by that because l was trying very hard to get work done and get good grades at school which stressed me out, but this year l've made a priority for me to do something l enjoy like sport, cooking,and listening to music. It'is a suggestion. Don't use so much time explaining figurative expressions. Because, if the learner knows the meaning of the words, they probably can deduce the meaning of the expression, and also because there is a good probability that similar metaphors exist in the native language of the speakers. Figurative language is more a issue of cognition and imagination than one of language proper. And I wouln't dare to say that cognition and imagination is completely universal, but they are so in a large measure.
