The way you feel about swimbaits is how I feel about frogs. I use them 95% of the time and keep getting better and better at using them. Just fun walking them around. Have to give some of these swim baits a try now

Honestly one of my favorite things about fishing big baits sometimes is people walking up thinking I had already caught a fish and realizing that's just the bait 😂 But honestly yeah I totally get the mindset of fishing exclusively swimbaits even if I get away with nothing while my friends catch multiple fish. It's just fun to watch fish follow my bait back sometimes. And actually getting a bite, regardless of the size, is just 100% more satisfying than any other technique

Glide baits and soft swimbaits are so fun got into it like 7yrs ago. From Wisconsin and none of my buddies believe me when I catch fish on them. Took me buddy fishing last weekend throwing glides and had a 5lber bite right in front of us! Now my buddy is asking me all the gear to get 🤣. Ps I love burning the savage gear pulse tail so it’s almost/is waking gets hammmered! So fun to fish swimbaits. Love ur videos keep them up.

I feel like I’ve been getting into big Japanese and boutique baits more and more lately cause I really do enjoy every aspect of being able to catch bigger fish with a bait I have more confidence in. Unfortunately assholes like that dudes message you deleted are more worried about being cheap, lazy and condescending towards people who take pride into not only making quality products but life itself. This unfortunately is the majority and we are the minority but honestly I prefer it that way because people like this are toxic to the hobby and the companies that take pride and who share the same motivation towards life as I do. It goes with everything not just fishing. I also think being loyal to quality brands shows good character imo. Love the content Geoff keep it up ol son

A awesome opportunity to let people know about swimbait angler's. 85% of my time is throwing some type of swimbait 3" to 12". I caught a 8.25lbs Bass on a Rapala size 14 perch. That was 35 five years ago in the North East. I stop fishing tournament later on. I was never satisfied on not throwing big baits. My first huddleston cost me $35 shipped. To me, the problem with this kind of thinking is that a big swimbait is not the best way to actually land giant bass on any given day 95% of the time. I love throwing swimbaits and I do it when I believe the conditions are correct for it, and I'd say I have my fair share of success on them. But I also enjoy catching big bass on other techniques, especially topwater. My goal is always to catch the biggest bass that live wherever I'm fishing. Sometimes it takes a swimbait, but very often it does not.
@crazybassfisher
@crazybassfisher 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting way to look at it. I think a big swimbait has a higher percentage of a chance to catch big fish on any given day. Maybe it’s due to our different experiences and locations as well. I think since I fish big swimbaits as much as I do, I can adjust and make the right choices to catch bigger fish more consistently than guys who fish them much less. Granted, catching big bass on topwater does seem so fucking rad hahaha

I think what you are talking about also applies to any technique. There is probably a sliding scale for how many anglers are likely to spend time on something as a function of how often they catch fish. Swimbait bites are typically fewest and furthest between. But you have to put in the time to learn it, no matter what the technique is. I think throwing giant deep diving crankbaits is sort of in the same category as big swimbaits. It takes dedication and attention to detail see what works and what doesn't. Even though the days of catching giant after giant on a 10XD are over, it's still a technique that most casual anglers aren't doing since it requires specialized gear to do effectively and most won't make this investment. Consequently, it's still a good way to outfish your buddies, but not so much in a tournament setting where everyone is likely to look for that bite. Under the right conditions, the same is true for big swimbaits.

A big deep diving crankbait is still one of the best ways to catch giant bass, like you said, a lot of guys don’t fish them because of the certain gear and dedication you need but it pays off once you dial it in!

My first swimbait fish was on a Jackall Gantarel and my first “visual” bite was on an I-Slide 135. Not a big bait by any means but it’s a glide nonetheless. I can still remember seeing that fish follow it, giving it 2 reel twitches and then seeing the fish t-bone it. I’ll always remember that

For me I love getting bit on reaction baits. I fish swimbaits from 2.8 keitechs to 8" hudds about 60% of the time. The one thing I'll say about big swimbaits is the bite. There is absolutely no doubt it's the best bite for me. The feeling of an 8' Rod going "Doooong" and setting that hook is an adrenaline rush. You know it's a bigger fish Regardless if it's only 4lbs or bigger. Nothing is getting that bait in its mouth unless it's a quality fish.

Some of us love it all from " conventional " to swimbait gear ( conventional in quotations because swimbaits are now a staple and in my opinion its all conventional until your using a kid's snoopy rod to toss a 8oz glide lol ). However to each their own. But that was a scary phase I must say. Nearly falling out of love w/ bass fishing. My mind was made up since 5 years old. It will be something I will do for life. Here's a hypothetical question for you. If you were in a situation where you knew you would have better odds at catching giant fish on conventional techniques, would you stick to throwing swimbaits? I've been watching some relatively recent youtube videos from other channels and am amazed to see DD's and teeners being caught on conventional gear, mainly offshore in 20+ feet. These guys may not be throwing big swimbaits but they are still specifically targeting giant fish and there is video proof. I myself throw big baits probably 90% of the time now so I completely understand where you are coming from and you are actually a big reason I got into swimbaits.
@crazybassfisher
@crazybassfisher 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I would still fish a swimbait because I always feel that if the big girls are feeding, I can present a swimbait to them in the right manner that will get them to bite. I would assume you’re talking about the guys that go to OH Ivie and throw a rigs with live scope/ panoptix. I would think after all the pressure and poundage that lake has received, I bet showing them a big swimbait would get the same fish to react and eat the bait. I always try to find how to implement the swimbait due to my own personal enjoyment and the overall challenge of figuring out how to present a lure to the fish that will make them commit
@SouthJerseyBaitReviews
@SouthJerseyBaitReviews 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with ya to some extent like if I'm not getting bites on the swimbaits I will move on I don't force feed em. I believe when they want them they want em and u will know but. I also believe it has to do with timing having the right type of circumstances or the weather that allows u to get on them better. I think thats when the different types of glides or swimbaits come into play like u said I base that off the behavior of the fish if the fish seem to be more active I tend to use twitch glides. An when I see fish kinda staying hunkered down like to use the slower wider glides that I can keep in the zone longer.

There’s actually a lot of really good glide baits that are under $50. The savage gear shine glide is a great one, the storm arashi is another one. The River2Sea S waver is a classic and has caught big fish everywhere. Ima glide fluke is another one I would recommend

Hi Jeff! One question about your sb fishing, how important is for you electronic in your boat? I mean do you utilise it often or you are more a sight fishing guy.

I use my graph mainly to find offshore structure and cover. I never utilize to find fish though. Once I find a spot using my graph, everytime I fish it, I will have my graph on, but the sonar is turned off so I just use the map to know my positioning and fish from there

@@crazybassfisher Thanks to reply to me so fast! I'm still not commit to sb fishing but I'm interested in. I'm from Spain, fishing highland reservoirs most, clear water 90% of the year. Here I caught some 6-7lbs (giant here in Europe not thete in US) but I've seen bigger ones, so probably I'll start at end of summer throwing some sb, maybe starting with the medium size.

I wish I knew more about SC but I would start with some type of wake bait, a smaller glide bait, and a cheaper soft bait. Match the different shapes, profile, sizes, etc, to the main forage that you find in your body of waters!
@zacharyangelo43
@zacharyangelo43 2 жыл бұрын
Depending on how big your trying to go, you can never go wrong with a mag draft 6” or 8” for starting out imo. Depending on your gear. Bullshad swimbaits have done me well. I live in Myrtle beach sc and have had more luck on either a wake bait or soft plastic then most glides around here

A jig will catch you a bigger fish and it’s way cheaper than a giant swimbait.
@crazybassfisher
@crazybassfisher 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not just about catching bigger fish, it’s about the process in which you go about it. The way you have to fish a jig and the way you have to fish a swimbait are so different. The possibilities are endless with a swimbait, that’s what makes it fun

C’mon bro you are way over glamorizing it . If you are fishing lakes that have trout and want to catch bigger fish , fish a swimbait . When you are fishing other types of places that have a different bite you will need to adapt to connect . You came up here to the ca delta and got a taste of what different waters are like . Here there is a window for big swimbaits but if that’s all you throw you will spend most of the year looking for fish . Swimbait fishermen spend to much time hyping up the swimbait game . Trophy hunting is using the baits for your waters that produce trophy fish . Take the ca delta , if you don’t punch you are dropping your percentages of catching bigger fish . Out local lakes , swimbaits are the choice for bigger fish . But it only depends on where you fish .
