It's crazy to see the amount of clothes that exist in the world and how many we all have when most people decades and centuries ago only had as many as they could carry. My dad was very stylish and fashion conscious (born in 1928, he knew what a Raglan sleeve was and called the local seamstress that hemmed his pants a "modiste") basically wore black pants and a white shirt every single day. He only bought quality material clothing like real wool or linen and started going to thrift stores in his 80s. He was super proud to say his winter coat had only cost $12. He passed away in 2022 and I'm wearing that coat right now.
