15:52 Open the lower yoke fork clamp by pushing a flat screw driver into the slot. Then the stanchion will slip in with no trouble. The correct sequence to align these forks is to nip up the fork caps and leave everything else loose, bounce the front suspension without using the front brake and then tighten the fork caps , top yoke nut , lower yoke fork clamps , axle and then fork brace . In that order. It's best to do that after the bike is fully assembled but with the tank off

Dom. I hope I'm wrong, but I believe Triumph swan neck frames rely on the tank as the frame top tube connecting the steering head to the lug by the front of the seat. That's why they are made of steel. I think there is a good chance your frame will flex over bumps and crack the ally tank.

I’m sure someone else has mentioned it but now you have an alloy tank and the standard frame don’t go jumping the bike or trying to do big logs. The original tank had braces inside to help stiffen the headstock. Later Triumph frames had an extra tube to sort this problem. Mince pies all the time they are on the shelves 👍
@ulischuster4060 Жыл бұрын
Bette use some baby-powder to lube the inner tube in the tire... the valve stem won´t shear off over time.

1:29 Hi Dom, I don't think you will be able to use your nice aluminium tank as is. The steel tank is a stressed member instead of a top tube on the frame. If you look inside your steel tank you will see that the mounting lugs pass through from end to end. It might be that you will have to weld a top tube to the frame. Love your videos, keep them coming.

Great set of videos, just looking at the brake shoe fitment - are you sure you aren’t fitting twin leading shoes to a single leading shoe brake plate…? If my memory serves, SLS brake shoes have a semi-circular cut-out which engages with the pivot pin at one end and a flat with a steel seat to contact the cam. The shoes you’re fitting seem to have flats at both ends… Hope the build progresses well. All the best…
@DominicChineas Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the concern but no we are all good they have the cutout on one end!
@classicrider5274 Жыл бұрын
Early shoes had the semi circular cutout but later shoes were self aligning and were able to move in the hub to get best contact. The pivot needs the nut slightly loose and with brake applied, tighten the nut to position.
