Hey, Gabby, this is iris. So nice to see you. I just retired after 23 years of social work. I have my bachelors and my masters and social work. Actually did the 3000 hours and completed them for the LC. Yes. W. But COVID came and I couldn't sit anywhere and by the time COVID was done I didn't feel like doing it anymore but I wanted to thank you. Cause this was very interesting. On the macro aspect, I went to University in Las Vegas, graduated with my bachelors in 2000 and the masters. In 2000. 7, they did not have a program for macro . Itook direct practice, but now that I'm retired, I still want to do something remotely. And I think the macro practice would be it. I know that in my social work career 23 years of it was done in hospice care because when I went to interview for the state. And different nonprofits they just weren't paying enough. And so I went private and went in hospice. And of course, the pay was great so I hear you and I'm grateful, I have a genzier. She's 23 and yes, they are vocal and they are out there protesting and even the ones that work at like Starbucks are unionizing and I'm like these kids are marvelous. So thank you so much. I will be following you from here forward.

You are an inspiration solely for identifying something that the people of the internet need to hear about and spending your time talking about it. As a soon to be MSW student your videos have been so helpful, I have seen myself aiming for clinical clinical clinical and while I AM a people person and a big "helper"...... US society dgaf abt helpers lol. and a lot of our societal problems come down to community leaders, shareholders and powerplayers, not getting proper counsel from social workers, not from individual community members not receiving proper advocacy. at least thats my midwest BFE opinion haha. as rough as it is for us I truly thank you for being a voice for current and future social workers' self interests, it is nothing short of THE work! micro, macro, mezzo, miso, social workers should have unions!

Thank you for the great information. I have been a clinical social worker for a number of years, and never heard Macro Social Work career path clearly explained. I am working on my doctoral degree in social work. Waiting on my committee to approve my research proposal. Would appreciate an opportunity to possibly interview you ((once my research proposal is approved, 🤞), centered around the challenges & resilience of social workers working with African American men.

I’m currently getting a BA in Psychology but wanted to switch to social work. My school (SNHU) only had human services. Would that be worth it to switch to or should I stay in psychology. I’m not sure what degree would be better to get a social work job. I eventually want to get my MSW but I want a decent job in social work with my bachelor’s

Thank you for your forethought in looking at how macro social work has been making a stronger presence in our society in recent years. Unfortunately I found your video unhelpful in specifics such as ways and means to move toward macro social work professionally. Although I appreciated your thoughts as an experienced professional, it did not give a solid explanation of what you felt could help a newcomer needed to do to explore these opportunities.
