Their old demos are the better versions of it. The reason is bc production can take the raw element out it. Not that you couldn’t feel raw emotion in the more production heavy versions but these. It’s authentic. Low budget. You know they put everything into these takes. At the time might’ve been hard to track. It has a different structure in some areas of the songs. They originally composed them with so much more drawn out parts that I personally loved. That got shortened or cut out altogether.

@@lionsatmidnight I've just switched back and forth, you're absolute right, it's also slightly faster in this version, and the lead guitars are thinner, meaning you can hear the bass and rhythm guitar are a lot more "forward". The drums are also way over produced on In Fate's Hands, I really like the light, airy tone these drums have, and there's a lot of room mic, which helps make you feel like you're in a garage with the band.

@@OfficiallyMaidenless So my good friend Tom was in the band when this album released. He was their bassist at the time and helped write over half the songs. He ended up being forced out because he disagreed with them signing with such a big label too early when the had interest coming in from a more genre-specific label that wouldn't try and change their sound. I always have respect for him because this was his shot, he didn't sacrifice his integrity, and ultimately didn't succeed in the music industry because of it, aside from some light work as a studio musician. Granted he's a happy father of two and one of the best friends a guy can ask for.

I have actually thought about this, I think it's because earlier screaming did sound like that. The mic distortion was a big part of that raw sound and energy, so it feels slightly "neutered" when we hear treated screams afterwards. Even if it's more pleasing from an audio pov
