I stopped for 15 months in a fit of pique in 2014-15, and it was worse NOT doing it. :-D

This is a brilliant edit. It parallels the story of the movie alongside the Hans Christian Anderson ballet tale flawlessly. Thank you for this.

Thank you so much for watching. It is one of my favorite films, and the film uses the ballet to make a meta statement about the sacrifices required for total creative immersion (IMO). Creativity is a harsh, harsh mistress. I'm glad you liked the video; it was a joy to make it.

Thank you so much for watching & commenting. The Red Shoes is one of my favorite films. I love how it's like a fairy tale, but it's about the price of passion and creativity. I hope that the price paid came through. :D

Great job! A very good montage on a music which doesn't come from the movie but it works very, very well. Beautiful homage to this beautiful movie!

nycmusicguy Thank you very much for your kind words. The Red Shoes is one of my favorite movies--the yearning, the desire for the creative gift and the price it demands. It's *perfect*, and this musical theme paired with the film really resonated with my own yearnings to keep and use my gifts--and the wages of that. :)

I was named after the ballerina in this movie (see my icon, heh) and this is pretty perfect!

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. It was a real challenge to find a song that said what I wanted to say about the movie and its gifts. :)

Was the female lead meant to be a fictional female version of Vaslav Nijinsky?
@luminositydeville Жыл бұрын
Hi! I'll do my best to answer your question. Moira Shearer was a (real, live) well-known Scottish ballerina (prima?) who played Victoria Page in this movie. The story is adapted from a well-known fairytale, The Red Shoes, by Hans Christian Anderson. The movie romanticizes the story quite a bit, compared to the fairytale itself, but it maintains a bit of the horror elements (Victoria dances herself to death). I don't think the lead was meant to relate to Nijinsky at all, although interestingly, Moira Shearer did study dance under Russian ballet master Nicolai Legat, so there's that. I hope you liked the video. Thank you for asking about it.
