When he was struggling, the only reason why I had a glimmer of hope for him is because it was mentioned multiple times he stole 70 bases in a season in the minors. First off, in order to do that, you need to get on base at a respectable clip to have those opportunities. Secondly, it just means he’s damn fast. I’m happy to see things are turning around for him.

Love his bat and speed, but he and the Sox have got to get it together on defense. The errors are no joke. They lead to unearned runs. I sent the following stats to your Instagram: Sox have given up 44 unearned runs, the most in MLB. They are 3-20 when giving up an unearned run, and 31-14 when not giving up an unearned run. As big an impact losing Casas in the line up is, I would say losing Story’s defense has also been a huge impact on this season.

As I mentioned on one of the last previous video's I think David would be a nice fit at second base. I am gushing about the way that guy is playing. If we could come up with a good defensive shortstop I agree David could be the solution at second base. He really has made some good plays at that position. The shorter distance he would have to throw would probably help quite a bit. I mean this guy is hitting for average,,,,homeruns and once on base he is a headache in the purist sense for the other teams. Duran and David drive them crazy. A very nice combination for the offense. If he can maintain a decent batting average he could be something pretty special. He is a lot of fun to watch right now. Seeing the sox stick it to the Phillies last night was priceless. Go Sox. Great video Corbin. Joe

Last year I said to you that Hamilton's speed could be a valuable addition. You ignored my brilliance as usual. In the minors, Hamilton was a .250 hitter+ had ahigh walk rate+average defense+a burner. My best biggest concern with him was his lefty bat. He could lost in the RS lefty flood. In your Nick Yorke interview, you didn't bring his high OBP. His best weapon!

His babip is .379 . 309 is league average. Luck is a huge part of short term fluctuations in baseball. That's why they play so many games and why baseball is magical. Good luck helps with self confidence and for some players it makes them better for a long time or until teams adjust defensively and the adjustments for the player in question don't happen. It's fun to watch the cat and mouse games with young players.

He's doing well and much better than expectations. With the list of names you mentioned primarily Vaughn Grissom wouldn't you think the Red Sox take advantage of his success and try to trade him? I'd hate for him to go but Vaughn won't be traded and if he was it won't be for much. If they continue to be mediocre wouldn't they want to sell some players to rebuild faster? It really looks like the Grissom Sale trade was a negative for Boston. Hate to say that this early but how many players had injuries for someone else to seize the opportunity to advance as Hamilton has. But again maybe it's only temporary.

Theres one glaring problem I have with Hamilton. Firstly let me say that you have to expect a few errors from this young man especially being forced to play short when his true position is 2nd base. That being said.. everytime this mothers son throws to first base I wince! Expecting the ball to run short and force whomever is at first to make an exceptional pick. Twice last night.. thank you Bobby Dalbec! Now, here is where Story could be helping this young player, is he? I don't know possibly he is. As a hitter I think Hamilton is finally catching up to the pace of playing in the major leagues. This kid is the future of 2nd base for the Sox.

The Red Sox have a nice problem with the unforeseen offensive emergence of David Hamilton ... You now have another legitimate talent competing to eventually take over second base unless he can improve his game defensively at shortstop ... The other interesting dilemma that Hamilton now presents to Craig Breslow is that he adds another productive left handed bat to the already high number of talented hitters from the left side that the Red Sox have at the MLB and minor league levels ...

This was a good take until you brought up Hamilton's 6 errors. Dude, players make errors. Especially shortstops. Go look at Ozzie Smith's stats. Greatest shortstop of all time. He committed 24 errors in his age 25 season. Most of Hamilton's defensive struggles came in the first month. Ask Cora. Hamilton's defense has come a long way. That's why he's comfortable with him at short enough to let Cedanne play CF. Hamilton is playable at short. He's not a disaster.
