"If I execute justice, half the world will be enraged"

Corey Ander Liberalism was extreme by the standards of the 17th century. Furthermore, our capitalist, socially tolerant paradigm is a ridiculously radical deviation from the historical center, which is religiously backed monarchy. Hierarchical states where order is kept by moral and physical force is the standard way of human organization, and what we are living in is a brief deviation from that.
@jonahi13044 жыл бұрын
@@coreyander286 I agree. though those governments in concept vary widely it in practice resembles the same shit: State becomes god, artificial caste system, held together by xenophobia and nationalism, and of course isolationism. now this is the extremist versions but i digress.

I dont know what is more ironic, people who mistake the Kerberos Saga as advocative of authoritarian politics or the ones who enjoy it because they think it is.
@marceldavis76076 жыл бұрын
Fucktardickis How do you interpret it?
@fucktardickis6 жыл бұрын
Well it depends more on a case by case basis: -Red Spectacles is clearly Oshii having more fun with surrealist settings and stories, much like he did in Angels Egg and Uresei Yatsura, Beautiful Dreamer, Even still within it is clearly critical of a would be fascist Japanese police state run by a man non too dissimilar in looks to Kim Jong Il, the secretive Yakisoba stand comes up allot in Oshii's stories as a last resort for underground groups. -Stray Dog outright shows us that the Kerberos Special Police were in a protracted cold war against the government secret police and intelligence forces. Not exactly supportive of authoritarian politics, instead making the wonderfully interesting scenario of the best counter for a fascist nation state being an honest and unbiased police force. -Jin Roh chronologically takes place during that Kerberos-Intelligence agency cold war. It shows a time were resistance groups were still strong, before the hegemonic takeover and their extermination by the time Red Spectacles happens(it is chronologically the last film in the timeline). It shows how extreme those resistance groups were but mainly focuses on the quite actual dehumanising effects of the authoritarian world, Kazuki is talked about allot in terms of wolfs in grandmas clothing etc In general i think the series is not typical to the west because the fascist Japanese characters are really only "cartoonishly evil" in a very atypical way, instead Oshii focuses very much on the paranoia and factionalism that always plagues authoritarian regimes. In general though, while they use German weapons and iconography, it is very much an story about police and political drama in a fascist state, definitely not espousing it.
