I was just watching a KZbinr doing a list of the scariest books he’s ever read and this was his number one choice.

This can only be scary when set anywhere but America. Pensioner cult killing by hitting people with rocks? I laughed my ass off when she said "No force on Earth could stop them!" If only you had a device capable of speeding up your own "tiny rocks" and throwing them quickly.

If only you'd been courteous enough to PREFACE your comment with the oh-so-helpful caution: **SPOILER ALERT** ... 😑

@@stephanielynn608 Spoilers for what is revealed in the first chapter. What I said isn't even the main plot, but honestly? Don't waste your time on this story anyways.

The author could have skipped the geology lesson and presented a much tighter narrative. Yawn.

The death of Steve is as well written as it gets.

I’m 4 hours in and the only reason I keep listening is cause the voice over is good and the horror parts are good. His characters Helen and Kat are pretty much identical except for the lives he gives them, it’s hard to even tell them apart. Then the weird comments about Steve taking photos of Helen when she was bending over? Only a creep writes that weird stuff. My guess is the author doesn’t know many women in his life cause he can’t write anything interesting about them apart from their bodies and what they do for the men in their lives. Very misogynistic but I will see how it ends lol.

Like I know character are supposed to be real so they have problems and they are not perfect but holy… the characters who aren’t women are at least a little interesting.

"The horror parts are good". Yeah, that's the point of the whole novel.
