Unlike almost every one they had the guts and strength to fight against impossible odds. Everything they said they were fighting to stop happening happened and the Union movement was set back for decades. Until now of course, with the most reactionary viscous Tory government giving the top 1% huge tax relief and bonuses for the bankers who cost us £147 billion in 2008, and the rest of us the worst cost of living crisis, astronomical energy bills and a crumbling economy, the unions are fighting back. No doubt you are sniping at them, hoping they lose and sycophantically on your knees to the Tories. The tube Great show.
@jonnyhaw11 жыл бұрын
The Tube thrived on controversy, and the producers were very much left-leaning, so i still think, on the balance of probabilities, it's much more likely to have been a technical cock-up, rather than a deliberate act of censorship. Real shame that it didn't work out - it would have been a great moment - and the miner did finally get to air his speech on a recent Tube documentary on Channel 4....
@rjjcms15 жыл бұрын
It is at odds with Channel 4's irreverent approach and their,and sometimes the BBC's,at times bold programming decisions covering and giving a platform to ideas and issues that made them a frequent scourge of the right wing press,the blue rinse brigade and the establishment in the 80s.

I must have been only kid at school that bought the cassette of Neither Washington or Moscow. Some 25 years later, just mentioned that I’d liked the Redskins at work and I was shocked that three of my fellow male colleagues ( sadly no women) were fans. That tape got quite an outing and copied a few times I bet. I rarely lend my stuff out, it goes missing, but I made sure I got that back.

Fucking great band. The fascists theft of skinhead was a nauseating cultural crime
@jamesguy10302 жыл бұрын
Herbie Go Bananas ~ Yeah, The Division in the Skinhead Scene started back in the Late 1970’s & Early 1980’s . Throughout the Late 1979’s & early 1980’s Skinhead & Punk was big news. Bands like Sham69, Madness, The Cockney Rejects, Stiff Little Fingers, & Splodge were all in the Top Ten at the 100 Club . & Skunks (Skins & Punx) were regular venues for Skinhead & Punk Bands. Along with the growth of Punk in 1977/1978 there had also been a steady increase in Racial Violence. So the mainstream media blamed this on the violent youth & the violent youth culture music ~ Punk & Oi! Oi! That they were listening to. Of course the fact that every major city & town was now overrun with immigrants had nothing to do with it whatsoever. The fact that most of the Punk Bands at the time were Left Wing especially the Tommy Robinson Band & The Clash also didn’t seem to matter as the media launched it’s very own Cure. A musical umbrella movement called ROCK AGAINST RACISM Working alongside the GLC (Greater London Council) & this new movement Organised quite a few festivals in & around London. Plus after the Southhall Riots back in 1981 were the 4-Skins & various other Oi! Bands played in the Hambrough Tavern & a Large Mob of Angry Asians with petrol bombs burned down the building, Skinhead & Oi! Bands weren’t really welcome anywhere. So in response to all this the Right Wing launched it’s very own musical umbrella movement called ROCK AGAINST COMMUNISM. & Started To Organise their Own shows & mini festivals & for the people concerned after Southhall it was Just what their Scene needed. A self financed, self motivated underground gig scene that attracted over 500 people to each gig. Simply by word of mouth, they said that the New Breed had arrived. So Now there was an army of Right Wing activists Listening to the new bands Like = SKREWDRIVER, THE OVALTINEES, PETER & THE WOLF, BRUTAL ATTACK, LONDON BRANCH, & THE DIE HARDS, They were the first Bands to play under the R.A.C Banner . Some of these bands entertained & inspired the people Present. However, only a couple of them gained any real notoriety.

@@tendrosstoodross2976 well, they did but with honour. I actually once saw The Redskins perform live as part of benefit gig which I believe was actually organised for striking miners in the mid-1980s. For such a so-called politically left-wing group they use to attract a very aggressively violent and racist skinhead following. Consequently, there was often both fights and trouble at their gigs as they toured the country.
@knotknown8473 жыл бұрын
I saw them 3 times in London - never once saw a fascist skinhead at these gigs. Saw thousands of people dancing their tits off tho. I think you are confusing one attack by nazi skins at the infamous GLC gig where the bone heads got their asses kicked and had to run for it and then trying to make a narrative that fits your erroneous opinion?
