We Install 2- 20 Seer Variable Speed Air Conditioners and talk through the parts inside and the refrigerant flow.
This man had huge air flow issues so we re-constructed the duct design and went from the original all style coil to a standard coil and we built a new plenums.

You did a good job of explaining the refrigerant cycle, I liked it! You are right about the less moving parts and the warranty on that product. Trane American Standard does a great job in building equipment.

Thanks Larry, I hope this equipment stands up and proved as reliable as all their past products. I think it will, DC is more stable so in reality we should expect less compressor wear.

If somebody had to wait a day for a drive that would be the same as if they had to wait for a compressor in a single stage unit. Nobody carries 100% of all the parts they could need, we carry what we feel is most common and hope we brought the right part.

Great Video. I too am curious about the copper line that straps to the drive module.

Is that a cooling loop on the drive? Looked like a copper line from the condenser is clamped to the inverter. The inverter boards are air cooled on the minisplits.

Nice installation. I'm not familiar with those units and I'm curious about the copper line (a loop) clamped onto the drive. Is that the refrig liquid line? If so, what function does it serve being clamped onto the drive -- heat sink? Thanks.

It's a cooling loop keeps the drive cool it's liquid.

I think this equipment is great but what is the return on investment vs the cost of that drive once it is out of warranty? Parts for high efficient equipment is costly compared to standard equipment. I would install it in my home but if I was a one man show would I want to have to be responsible when the equipment fails? That is the question that guys are looking for the answer to. Also when customers shell out big cash for these systems they expect it to be reliable and last. Everything thing that is new always has bugs that need to be worked out. Some do not want to deal with the issues.

Good points Rob HVAC. Agree with bugs. But overall the vfd drives and ecm motors. Should last a lot longer than psc motors and compressors should last longer due to not getting that sudden jolt of startup amps. I also think the more and more equipment and companies backing vfd and ecm's hopefully the prices will come down due to competition. That's what I hope at least. With all competition prices go down and seems quality goes with it.

0 Leonardo I truly don't worry about failure it is not a big issue for me. I trust the brand. But for everyone's info the drive cost $1200 if it was out of warranty. American standard is so sure of these drives. They will give you a lot of shit if your drive fails be suede there too reliable according to them. DC is proven to be more reliable So we can concern ourselves with cost of repair true anything can break. If this fails it will have to be fixed but since all the parts are proven to be more reliable and I mean the compressor is made by American standard and its DC so it's should last longer. DRive is also more reliable than a contractor. Let me ask you this do Transformers fail, answer is no not unless you blow them. Transforming power is easy and reliable parts of been doing that for years used in other types of technology so this is not new technology it's just new to air-conditioning but it is in fact proven to be more reliable so every argument here is based off of what if this thing fails but the fact is it's more reliable so it's probably not going to fail. At least the big items are like the compressor the condenser motor the coil and the drive. Those 4 items are the large items and those 4 things are what you can count on. The drive ok in theory it's more reliable but u believe it. And the compressor, coil and condenser motor those 3 parts are made to last.

Las Vegas Air Conditioning, Inc. DC Driven A/c has been used in Central, South and Latin America for more than 20 year's! And in Puerto Rico... All these Countries and Islands mostly rely on Minisplits Regular & Inverter Type. Minisplit Heatpump Inverter are the primary source for Air Conditioning for Houses, Business and Commercial Properties. This Technology is Old to me!!! The Inverter Parts are what are not reliable, must have Power Surge Protection at the Disconnect AND Circuit Breaker. I also Install a Non-Metal Mesh around the Board so lizards or Bugs won't go under the board and short it out!

Let's face it there are higher margins on communicating equipment. However the risk is somewhat higher. Therefore higher profit margins and higher risks sort of cancel each other out I prefer a two-stage air-conditioner but I would rather it be electromechanically control as opposed to control boards operating the system. Just my opinion.

Yeah emin I think we all trust the contractor. We're so familiar and it's proven. But it seems to me that these manufacturers are going make us all get used to DC. The argument at least for the compressor is that that DC is actually more Stable and more reliable less wear. I guess time will tell.

Emin, There are studies that electronic controls have less down time than the mechanical ones. Stop sticking your head in the sand and step into 2015, your talking like an old fart. Now back in the old days they never broke down like that. Bull Shit. I worked in the old days and yes they broke down just like they do today. Just kidding about you being a old man, the problem back then and still is today is instillation air flow problems.

Larry Cole hahaha Larry when you speak I listen lol or in this case when you post comments I read. I have no issues with high efficiency equipment, in fact I am a big fan of inverters. I totally agree with the installation airflow problems. Larry you're the HVAC sensei I always learn from you, now where are the videos man?
