For such a balls-to-the-walls series it sure can instill some killer ambience with it's sick scenery and locale. It's my favorite thing about the Dragon Engine, those graphics really do make the cities feel more alive, and the interior exploration is lovely. Looking across the bridges in Sotenbori, the view from Ichiban Confections in Yokohama, the beautiful beach of Okinawa right in front of the orphanage, the winter festival in Tsukimino with the looming ice sculptures, the quaint little park in Kineicho and of course the big red entrance sign leading into Kamurocho. Damn.
@luqhakim57113 жыл бұрын
I heavily agree with you on that. Kamurocho has never looked more lively. Sometimes you dont even have to go too far to see the beautiful scenes. Even the backlot of Serena is nice enough, and this small office building i stumbled into looks so comfy. They really did a good job with Sotenbori too in Yakuza Kiwami 2. I cant wait to see how the other places are gonna look like in Yakuza 6 and Like a Dragon

People in RGG are the most skilled people i have ever seen. They are able to pack so much content, an amazing storytelling, loveable characters every year (even tho the games have reused content it never gets boring because of them)

NGL the atmosphere of the Judgment games is the peak of the Dragon Engine if you ask me. The noir vibe put over everything else you brought up really makes for some of the most chill looking places in a game I’ve seen.

@@luqhakim5711 The only thing that's missing in the newer Kamurochos is the rain. We got puddles and people with umbrellas. But no rain. It would make for an even stronger atmosphere.

@seka1nix2 жыл бұрын
You could argue that if story makes you bored it didn't do a good job at keeping the player engaged and so they made the distractions as an excuse. That is true to an extent as Yakuza plots have a lot of dialogue and cutscenes and that can make some players bored. But I think Yakuza devs also know that what makes an open world game alive isn't that you can explore everywhere and how large it is, but how interactable it is, which I think is the main reason they put so much effort into side content. They understand that despite how serious the main plots are, at the of the day, Yakuza is still a videogame, and games are usually supposed to be fun.
