The Relics of Athalën: Part 1 - Secrets of the Old Kingdom

After almost two years and five months of on-and-off work, The Relics of Athalën has finally been released! You can download the campaign here: aok.heavengames...
The Relics of Athalën is the final installment in the Gwyndlegard series. It has 7 scenarios, roughly 3500 triggers, and an estimated playthrough time of 10-12 hours (depending, of course, on how good a player you are!)!
"Secrets of the Old Kingdom" is the first scenario of the campaign. Here you are told the tale of the Old Kingdom that preceeded Gwyndlegard, and which fell in a single day. We then cut to present day (in the story) and follow Immanuel as he returns home from Rockspring, only to be thrown out into another adventure: this time he and his friends must stop the evil witch Xaphira from gathering all the Relics of Athalën and using their power to become a goddess.

E.g. the files in the "AI" folder go to the "Age2HD\Ai" folder, and so on. 7) Importantly, the file "The Relics of Athalën.cpx", which is in the "Campaign" folder of the mod, HAS to go to "Age2HD\scenario" and NOT into "Age2HD\campaign" folder. 8) DO NOT start the game in Steam, but from the file "age2_x2.exe" in the "Age2HD\age2_x1" folder where the game is installed. 9) Enjoy the campaign! Hi Basse! When will this campaign be available on the Steam Worskhop? Because I've been wanting to play this campaign, but I have some issues to play it. -Classic version: I think there's hardly a way to get it legally without a CD. -HD version: The campaign's name at the menu is blank. Whenever I select it There's a window that says: "Attempt to access invalid units This world allows the following packages: Age of Empires II (Original Game), The Conquerors (Original Game)" And then there are hundreds of lines with three digit numbers that say this sentence except for the number: "869 - Unit Id unknown to DLC system 906 - Unit Id unkown to DLC system 903 - Unit Id unknown to DLC system" Etc.

Hey! Currently the only way to play it is with the CD version unfortunately. It used to be playable in HD if you just copy-pasted the files over, but that was years ago and they have changed the system for graphic files since then. I am hoping to adapt it to HD, but so far I've just not had the time to sit down and redo the mod. But one day, hopefully!

When I try this campaign in the old version of AoE2, the game crashes as soon as I load the 6th scenario, even before I get to the Instructions screen. When I try, it in the HD version, it crashes when I save or load the scenario. How can I prevent this from happening?

The HD crash is one I'm currently struggling with as I try to port the campaign to AoK:HD. The other one is completely new to me, though, and I don't recall any of my playtesters running into it... I'll see if I can come up with something. In the meantime, I guess you could try extracting the scenario from the .cpx file and play it through the editor, if nothing else works. :/

You can do that using the Campaign Manager, which you can download from the Blacksmith at Age of Kings Heaven: aok.heavengames.com/blacksmith/showfile.php?fileid=5613 . Now, I'm not sure this will fix the problem, but it's worth a try; your problem sounds like a random bug, and those tend to pop in and out of existence if you change the way you play the scenario even slightly, so playing it through the editor *could* work!

I must say that they are very, very nice and I had always wanted to make my own designs of buildings or unit. So if you could give it via AoK Heaven, I'll be glad. Just asking. That depends on what you mean by "have". ;) You can use any of the graphics from the mod for your own scenarios, provided you give credits to its original author (many of the graphics come from other mods), and provided you don't do anything ridiculous, like just posting all of my graphics and claiming you made them yourself: common sense, basically. That does remind me, though: I have yet to include a full list of which graphics comes from whom.
