Okay, One of the main goals of the Religious Right was to elect family valued conservative politicians who would appoint family valued conservative federal judges(Including Supreme Court Justices) who would in turn over turn Roe Vs Wade, bring prayer back to public schools and rule against gay rights. In other words, turn America back to family values. I wonder if they feel betrayed by the fact that a lot of the federal judges who are over turning gay marriage bans were appointed by REPUBLICAN presidents(Reagan/Bush/GW Bush)? I long for the day when Christians are no longer held hostage to Republican lies.

This is widely known as one of the most polarizing conventions, even among republicans. Reagan's speech at the convention (which is not shown) was one of the few that was full of hope and not hate. It is funny to read peoples reasons as for why Bush senior lost the election. It wasn't the religious right, it was Ross Perot. He won almost 20% of the vote, which almost overwhelmingly would have gone to Bush. People forget that Clinton won with only 43% of the vote and never got 50% ever.

I know McCarthy was a conservative Republican - and his name has become synonymous (right or wrong) with the demonization of others. There was no 'hate spouted' from these clips; they were simply viewpoints from a largely conservative Christian perspecttive. Groups like PAW, of course, take those clips and try to paint a broadbrush of demonization.....and, judging from your comments, I guess it's worked with you.

I know that some republicans are far-right religious zealots but they are in the minority... this video confuses conservatives with mainstream views (45% of USA want major restrictions on abortion- banned except rape/incest/life of mother, over 60% want parental notification/consent for minors, 70% support Hyde Amendment on public abortion funding; when this was said in 1980/92 over half of the southern/midwest states they were going for still made it ILLEGAL for 2 adults to have gay sex

A public option is nowhere near socialistic - if you want hurl that insult, look the way of single payer. Everyone pays taxes, so the healthcare is not free; the intention is that it will be universal (as taxation is). There is no 'government can cure all' mentality in the current administration, there is just an economic crisis during which any responsible government would increase spending to help fix, as the current administration has.

Both McCain and Graham used to be "mavericks", and today they are both getting pushed to the right by the establishment. For instance McCain introduced that Immigration bill a few years ago, and now he is backing away from a lot of the principles in that bill. Graham wants to change the 14th amendment, doesn't like "centrist" republicans to me, no offense.

W is a conversion story, they do happen, its not an intellectual thing its a sort of sudden moment sort of thing, i believe he had a form of conversion event to be an evangelical Christian (methodist i think). No, really, it doesn't. If you listen to Glenn Beck, and believe what he says, you might think that, but it's not the case. No one wants to trample on your religious freedom (examples?), taxes are far lower than they were under 'conservative' Democratic administrations like JFK's, and no one is suggesting the government can cure everything. A public option in healthcare is not taking away your freedom, it's giving you more freedom. You would still be able to have private insurance if you want.
