I remember when DoD came out. I think it was like the first FPS to have voice chat if I'm not mistaken. I played RTCW for like 2 years before it came out so I kinda liked it at first. Hey Husk, you really should try playing Battlefield 1 (Conquest mode). The best of all the Battlefield games, and I heard it is available on STEAM now for $1.99, so there are plenty of new players. I am a BF1 veteran who had moved on to Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042, but 2042 was sooooo bad that I went back to BF1. I play for the PTFO clan (Play the F'in Objectives), so I always try to help players learn how to play the game better and how to actually win the round. Also, it would make a very interesting video for you in showing how in some games (Battlefield in particular), most of the players make NO attempt to play the game properly (in Battlefield Conquest you are supposed to capture the objectives), but just "game the system" and hide behind enemies for cheap kills in order to make themselves look great. LOL! Would make a very interesting video for you. A discussion of the problem of "CAMPER" players. lmao

I played Counter Strike in college, shortly after 9/11. It was wildly popular… you would walk through dorm courtyards and hear the gunfire from people’s windows. It’s crazy to imagine the same people getting together to play all these years… even at the time it seemed like a massive waste of time, but 20+ years?! Anyway, thanks for the hit of nostalgia.

DoD is still a stellar game, one of the best HL mods and one of the reason Steam exists. Avalanche is legendary map. I played when they also had Para Maps which were just as good, and probably more realistic than most ww2 games

Man I feel old and time moves by so fast. I can remember when I got broadband internet and a Dell desktop when I started high school in 2003. 10mbps was lightning fast back then for residential users. First game I popped in was the original Call of Duty followed by my junior high favorite- Age of Empires. Very sad/nostalgic thinking about that time in my life and sometimes wish I could go back to it. Hard to appreciate the good old days when you're living through them.

I try not to think about it. Time goes by way too fast. It's so important to love others and keep the good people if you find them... appreciate them. Life is all about memories with loved ones.

I was playing DoD:S when it came and continued to play until 2019. I specifically played on the SAC server and would constantly get the top 10 every rotation. I was constantly bombarded with hacking accusations. The admin of the SAC server is a salty old man who doesn't like people who are better than him so much that when he joined the server, people would leave. Well, I was against him and kept killing him over and over again. Eventually, I got booted and tried to rejoin only to a prompt where I was IP banned. Tried to appeal on their website but was ignored by their incompetent clan. Those reviews are 100% accurate.

The intro comments on old people is HILARIOUS to me, because BF2 is STILL going and has been a vet/older base of people for a long time. They are some of the nicest and most inclusive people I have ever met. They are overjoyed to see new players and will help you as much as they can. THAT is the kind of game I want. Not a bunch of kids and toxicity. Hardcore communities that love the game make it. I will say that the BF2 community is MUCH different though. It's VERY LONG matches and the same guys have been playing for an extreme amount of time.

@@lordblazer it's the same thing but two perspective. Being able to shit talk is literally "growing up". A child takes too many things literal, growing up means to learn the mulitple meanings of words andsituations. ALL of comedy relies on that

A friend of mine still plays Day of Defeat, I think its his main game. In his case, he likes to game occasionally but he decided many years ago that he's not going to keep up with gaming anymore because its immature and unproductive or something so he hasn't upgraded his PC in about 15 years. I imagine this is the story for quite a few of these guys, they decided in 2009 or 2010 "its time to be a grownup now" but sometimes they still feel like gaming so they return to the old ones they know and that their old computers can still run.
