I left the police in 2022. Over 22 years in. Couldn’t stomach what had been done to it. Final straw was nearly being killed during an arrest and the CPS releasing suspect on bail - for them to flee the country. Was speaking to one of my former colleagues about this show. Sarah Lancashire captured exactly how we had been taught to police. You’d rather die than be thought a coward or leave a colleague in peril. Superb series. Really hit me how accurately she captured how we were taught and what it should be.

Amazing scene. And I love that Ann helped fight Tommy and helped Catherine get outside. So often in movies you see a scene like this where the protagonist and villain are locked in a life and death struggle while the person in Ann's position just stands there, so it's good to see an example where they take every chance they can get to be free.

I remember watching this episode with my friend, the night it aired. After this scene the episode ends. Me and my friend were absolutely dumbfounded, couldn’t take our eyes off the screen even as the credits started to play. We then just looked at each other not being able to speak. I’ve never watched something that’s hit me as hard as this scene.

It's long overdue time I started watching this show from the beginning . This is probably the most extreme clip of the show that I've seen so far . It's nornally a lot funnier than this. But it shows what a good program it is if it can juggle black humour and deadly serious stuff like this. I'm sure ITV player has the whole run of Happy Valley.
