Hi! I am currently studying for National Boards for Chiropractic. I happened to click on your video to further understand the respiratory center. First, I want to say this is an amazing explanation. Thank You! More importantly as you speak of all the nerve innervations as well as sensory information such as anxiety, fear etc. I immediately began to see why being adjusted is so necessary as I already know. You speak of three levels of the spine. Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar and their correlation with nerve innervation to these respiratory conductors. If, one is subluxated than we know that the mechanoreceptors are not firing and instead the nociceptors are firing. Sending messages to the brain for pain which is considering damaging stimuli. When one is adjusted at these levels (Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar) which are not only responsible for respiration but for many other systems of the body. Then, we stimulate the mechanoreceptors to the brain and shut down the nociceptors. Therefore, having a profound affect on respiration which in turn will have a profound affect on the rest of the body. I continue to become fascinated by the innate intelligence of our bodies. Thank You!

Yikes. If your College was teaching you about subluxations in other than a historical context I would worry about the quality of your education. Subluxations don't exist. They have been proposed for over a 100 years but there has never been any objective science that shows that they are real. The majority of the (non-US) Chiropractic profession has distanced itself from the term. See: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29988608 who state (in regards to subluxations) "Unscientific terms and concepts should have no place in modern education, except perhaps in historical context. Unless these outdated concepts are rejected, the chiropractic profession and individual chiropractors will likely continue to face difficulties integrating with established health care systems and attaining cultural authority as experts in conservative neuro-musculoskeletal health care."

BTW my physiology book says the Central Chemoreceptors AKA Medullary Chemoreceptors don't recognize pH only CO2 (Silverthorn Human physiology 8th edition) Also I wish you talked about the NTS, VRG and DRG :(
