Bought the book. Well worth the read. God bless this woman of courage. I am 78 yo & I remember in early 1960s when Pres Johnson gave churches tax exempt status. At the same time pastors were not allowed to be involved in or make any political statements. In my opinion that was the beginning of "Shepherds for Sale".

I agree with those that say that Megan Basham's book a is very import book for any Christian to read. I have discussed it in my men's Bible study and many of my friends. To those who say I'm not a member of SBC or PCA or a mega church and it's not happening in my church I say that has the ring of Martin Niemoller's famous statement. The book is very well written and documented. While the topics are definitely weighty and troubling, I thought her writing style made it a very compelling read. I believe we all need to be equipped with this information so we can be on guard in our own churches and be more discerning of the books we read and other information sources. Thank you for your courage in taking on these topics. God bless you and protect you. Thank you Mr. Daws for your great interview.

I love Megan’s book! I love her! I am so grateful to her for sounding the alarm and for doing such excellent work. I have seen things happening for several years now, and even was lead by The Lord to write a letter of warning about a year ago to one of the more nefarious people in this book. That person arrogantly blew me off much as he has done with Megan. He did not heed the warning that I gave him, sadly, but only went from bad to worse. So, I am glad that he is being exposed by this book at this time. It just confirms what I heard from The Lord about him. I pray he will truly repent and publicly be culpable for all he has done to hurt the Church and the ways he has used The Church to make his fortune and build his own kingdom. God sees all of this. And He will deal with him. I pray he repents so that God will perhaps have mercy. But at the moment this man seems to seriously lack a proper Fear of the Lord. Woe to him and those like him. God will not be mocked. My advice to all these guilty Shepherds for Sale is to Repent Now. Judgement starts in The House of The Lord.

@@mjabate It just so happened that Deborah was FULL of the Holy Spirit. Had nothing to do with her being a woman. God is no respecter of persons. Deborah was a judge and a prophetess. (Judges 4:4) When he received the prophecy that they would win against the enemy army, "Then Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go.” He said this b/c he recognized that she heard from God. That God spoke through her. Granted, Barak should have been that person. But he wasn't. God also spoke through Anna...another woman full of the Spirit who proclaimed in the temple that the Messiah's time was here!

Always enjoy the interviews. Question, why not briefly explain Hegelian Dialectic, which is universally the method the enemy uses to bring about their agenda? The reason why is that the attacks will keep coming. Explaining the dialectic will allow people to identify the next wave of attack, whatever that may be. Understanding this method you'll begin to see it every where. In church, politics, schools, science, etc. Also, if you research this you'll discover that all they're looking for is the smallest bit if compromise. If they can get the "thesis" to compromise even a fraction, then it's only a matter of time before they reach their goal. This is why my family left the efree church. They made a subtle and seemingly inconsequential change to their doctrinal statement from the "premillennial return if the Lord," to the "glorious return of the Lord." I asked friends on the board if the church believes the bible teaches a premillennial doctrine? They said they did but because it can be controversial they don't want people with other views to feel uncomfortable and leave the church. They claim bible is ultimate authority inspired word of God. They stated they believed bible teaches premillennialism. Therefore they dethroned the word of God to appease man. I saw the Hegelian dialect and it's only a matter of time until entire church becomes unrecognizable. Which is already happening!

The book as well as the interview does a good job of connecting certain evangelicals to liberal funding groups and clarifying their positions on abortion, climate control, immigration, LGBTQ, etc. Some of these points may be valid but I don't understand what Christ-honoring purpose is served by impugning Christians you disagree with politically while proclaiming support of a man for president who is much worse and represents everything a Christian should stand against - pride, arrogance, hypocrisy, immorality, dishonesty, and whose funding comes from taking advantage of other people, avoiding paying taxes, through his connections with corrupt Russian oligarchs, and who has never given a dime to a charity. How Trump has built his personal wealth by cheating low income tenants, tax evasion, and defrauding business clients is well documented and should trouble anyone. It certainly would Jesus, who was circumspect in his attitude toward the powerful taking advantage of common people for dishonest gain. As I read the New Testament it is clear to me that this is the most egregious sin and the one that Christians should call out more than any other. It seems that you "strain out a gnat but swallow a camel." (Matthew 23:24)

@@kimmckaig3152 You're right. I have totally missed the point of the book because I don't know the point of writing a book that impugns the integrity of Christians you disagree with. When it is written by someone who promotes a completely immoral person like Trump for president it really makes it hard for me to see the point of the book because it dismantles objectivity, which all writers should seek to maintain.

Basham's argument in First Things was actually self-incriminating. She didn't take money from foundations of which she does not approve, but, worse, by allowing her book to be sold by HarperCollins she made money (enabled) a publisher who publishes books such as "Queer, There, and Everywhere." There are independent Christian publishers who do not publish books that would offend her, but she chose to publish with the one whose publications she would detest. Worse than making money for this publisher, she then took money from the sales of her book with this publisher. She can't beg the question by arguing it was one of their imprints. It is still ultimately a profit for HarperCollins.

Sorry, her answer is not satisfying. She still enabled HC by giving them a book that is making them money. She does not address the fact that she could have chosen an independent Christian publisher that aligns with her concerns and still acquired funds from her book that can be used to feed the hungry, etc. Hers is a lame excuse.

@@dennisokholm7548you are missing the point. I totally disagree. I think she had a hard time moving forward in the Christian world because no one wanted to deal with the truth about these wayward “leaders”. The 11th Commandment and loyalties to friends over The Truth, hindered any possibility of her going through a Christian publisher, I’m sure. So many are more loyal to the opinions of others than to the Lord and protecting His Church. You, are the one straining out a gnat while swallowing a camel, my friend. Megan’s book is so needed at this moment. Also, what does Trump have to do with the book. These people either did these egregious things or they didn’t. You have totally missed the point.

Sorry about the comment on Trump. I was actually addressing another complaint that was just before yours. You did not mention any of the political talking points, only the secular publisher she went with. I made a mistake. Forgive that part of my comment to you, please. But I do think she had trouble addressing this issue in the Christian domain, due to loyalties to friends over what is right and true. 😢
@dennisokholm75483 ай бұрын
@@kimmckaig3152 No problem about the Trump comment, whatever it was (though I think he is an antiChrist if that helps). Actually, there are very conservative independent Christian publishers who would have accepted her book. Though it's a different topic, but to illustrate. IVP fired one of its staff when he revealed that he was a universalist. And IVP will not publish a book that is sympathetic to, but not committed to, universalism. But IVP is only one example of Christian publishers that are just as adamant as she is and would have published her book. Again, implicitly funding HC is just as bad as receiving funds from a foundation. In both cases, her perceived enemy is being assisted.
