Dude, you're an inspiration. I was too ignorant to fix anything on my car, but now I'm gonna give it a go, bc I surely don't wish to pay a ripoff.

With your ramps for the front, you REALLY need to put a vertical piece of wood at the front just in case your car slips a little forward. You wouldn't want to be under the car if it tries to go forward. Job well done anyway matey. :)

Does the BA have the same handbrake cover/skin and gear stick/knob/selector as the BF? I have a BF and my skin/gearknob is broken and looks shit. Hoping to find one at pick a part

Hey Scott... Awesome vid mate - i've gotta do my drive shaft bearing tomorrow. I've done my research and other vids have said to take out the three bolts at the front of the shaft near the gear box but in your's you just slide the shaft out of the btr.... Any drama's getting it back into the gear box ?

He forgot to say this (and its CRITICAL) : You MUST mark the bolts of the tailshaft where it meets the diff (same for the front). Both ends MUST be marked as its balanced and needs to be put back in the order it came off.
@iamasmurf1122

No it does not i have removed heaps of driveshafts never had an issue with it being balanced if put back some other way, how can the transmission yoke and rear diff yoke be unbalanced , how does the drive shaft strangely lose its balance the drive shaft is balanced not the yokes on the end

Doesn't the tail shaft have to be properly balanced when you refitted the new CB? The door lock actuators are a common prob because like most parts, manfactured o'seas in shitty countries (Mexico namely here). BA of that age (same goes for BFs and AUs) would require new sway bar rubbers and bushes, engine mounts and other minor front end susp. work in due course.

No need to balance the trailshaft when you've only replaced the uni as they are well machined and accurate in weight and balance to the old one .

Why not buy some proper ramps, steel ramps have a stop so when you drive up on them the front wheels stop before you go over the front of them, ramps are not expensive i have myself driven cars up on ramps a lot and you can fuck up on them big time you want to be safe in future dont play around with cars as if its all a big joke

Unsafe and stupid buy proper ramps and those stands are not good buy some Good ones you can't put a price on safety.
@MrKrueger88

Those ramps are not unsafe , they cannot collapse and the jack stands are rated at 1.5 tons . Stop the unnecessary trolling and criticism .
@yusuf.alajnabi
@yusuf.alajnabi 5 жыл бұрын
@@MrKrueger88 I'm not trolling and those ramps are definitely not safe. And you said the safe working load for the jack stands is 1.5 ton well guess what, the car's tare weight is more then that. I have been lifting and supporting vehicles for 17 years. And I only comment because I have seen idiots jack up cars unsafely and I have seen cars and trucks come off the jack and stands because of stupidity or people just don't know what they are doing. Did you know that 19 mechanics across Australia die or get seriously injured because of actions like this. Don't challenge me on something I know a lot about.
@MrKrueger88
@MrKrueger88 5 жыл бұрын
@@yusuf.alajnabi And I've worked in that trade for over 25 years . Go and read up on the compressive strength of timber and you'll see it's plenty strong enough to take a car . And you should know those stands cannot be sold in Australia without passing approved safety regs . As for weight of the car , yes it's over 1.5 tons but they support the rear end only !! We didn't see if the car was additionally propped up or stabilised by the way but as the guy only had one arm you can bet he wasn't wresting the tailshaft out with two . Idiots that only Jack their car up with one Jack are just that , idiots ... But this guy wasn't being stupid or reckless .
@Olbucko
@Olbucko 5 жыл бұрын
If the car weighs 2 tons, (assuming equal weight distribution), 2 stands placed at one end of the car only have to support 1 ton between them, each stand would be only lifting 1/2 ton. Stands rated at 1 1/2 tons would be perfectly safe.
