Some time has passed when we again meet the Muskehounds living a life of leisure. The years have not passed uneventfully -- DOGTANIAN has married JULIET and has two children.
A messenger brings to each Muskehounds a letter asking them to go to an Inn. There they meet the Queen and DOGTANIAN's faithful companion PIP. Her majesty tells them that something strange is happening as the court and she needs their help to find out what is going on.
