Mr.McGuinness will always be the greatest racer on a road course of all time.I am glad he is retiring because he has beat the odds for to long.You can be the best in the world but you have no control of a stray dog walking across the track or a chain breaking and locking up or absolutely anything that is beyond your control.It would kill me if something happened to him.Their is a difference in quitting and retiring.Live a long life Mr.McGuinness you deserve it for all the people who you have made so happy rooting for you that you have never let them down,including me.You have absolutely nothing to prove to anyone,you are truly the best their ever was 🤴🏻🏍

It's becoming difficult to watch him, (and Bruce) these days - to win they'd have to hope that Hicky, Harrison, Dunlop, Hillier and Johnson and others are all off from or have mechanicals. I have great respect for him as a man and as a TT legend but I want him to be a living legend and think he should retire as opposed to being eventually another victim of the mountain. His poor wife must be so stressed by his obsession to continue especially after that last crash. Been with him for so many years, she deserves better in my opinion 🤔 !
@thewippit24005 жыл бұрын
In another sense I’m sure she wouldn’t have him any other way.. that’s what makes the man John mcguiness that’s his drive & passion and she knows it like you say been with him long enough
@peter80845 жыл бұрын
The Wippit You make a valid point but I’m sure that the thought that his obsession might eventually kill him must be in her mind. Quite clearly,from this years TT his sharpness has diminished even though the Norton was unreliable and he got a podium in the electric bike race. As l said l just want him to be a living legend and not another Joey Dunlop. Just my opinion as a fellow human being 🙂!
@thewippit24005 жыл бұрын
Peter Charles - aw I certainly agree with you I want him alive too.. I think he’s sharp enough with the right bike for one more win he should of ridden Michaels bike & left the norton alone plus I’ve yet to meet the man & my Boss sponsors him 🤣 hopefully will soon enough tho

I lost the ability to walk in 05, I was told I'd probably never walk again let alone ride, my wife(Super nurse) had me walking in 5 months, riding again in 2 yrs, just the thought of not riding let alone competing killed me inside, I can only imagine what a guy with this level of talent felt, he has nothing to prove to anyone, it's just that little voice in his head that only he can hear, & it gets louder & louder. He'll be back competing for the top spot, he doesn't know anything else.

Point 1: If you put subtitles, at min. 2:15 the subtitling understands the engine revving as applauds. Coincidence? Of course not. Point 2: Seeing John wearing the original Alpinestars GP Pro gloves that were discontinued many years ago is testament to how epic those gloves were. Grab a pair if you find any new that isn't a fake copy.

I highly respect the dude but I think he should cash out why hes a living legend rather than a dead one because the life expectancy of these racers are 5-10yrs max. We have seen what has happened to the dunlops. My favorite rider Cam Donald retired and it sucks I dont get to watch him race anymore but dude cashed out and I dont blame him and a friend of his Simon Andrew's kept going now hes dead. But I understand where john is coming from because once you put it down that's it there's no going back and if you do go back your either not going to be competitive or make a mistake. It's a tough call but if I were in his shoes I'd retire at the top.
