The return of R42 subway cars on the J line! Check description!

Due to several R179s having door problems and software glitches, they all got taken out of service! Yup! All 318 cars!! So due to the 179s getting taken OOS, East New York yard was forced to bring back the R42 subway cars, which retired on December 30th,2019! Enjoy!!

Bombardier did not know what they were doing. I think it’s time for a lawsuit by the MTA, NYCT and taxpayers who lost millions on this. As for the trains problems, I don’t think Bombardier can actually fix them. I’m not sure what red tape is involved but if Kawasaki is allowed to they should be asked to fix the problems.

Chad M Bombardier has been barred from bidding on any future train contracts for the MTA, so that’s good news.

What makes me laugh is that everyone loves the R42s and is super duper happy that they are back in service but then is mad and blaming bombardier for the issues on the 179s like in my opinion they are the best because of their errors on the 179s, now look at the blessings of the R42s return. If they would have made the r46, r62s,r62a, r68s, r68a,142s, 142a,143, 160a, & 160bsimens and if they were all messed up right now as the same time as the r179 is... Then the mta would be fucked and which would mean they would need sooo many buses to be used as train shuttle buses and sooo they are probably not have enough buses that are currently used for bus routes to be used as all those shuttle train bus services which would mean the mta would need to take out those older buses out of eastchester depot that are not scrapped yet to be used as shuttle buses and also maybe just maybe they would go to extreme measures to take out those old rusty great classic trains out of the ocean that were used to create artificial reef to be used for passenger service then that would really be a miracle blessing thanks again to bombardier for their errors!

Diory Actually, the R179s has a door issue due to manufacturing errors that the R160s and R188s do not have. In addition, it is impossible to have all 6,500 cars to suffer door problems all at once (in fact, the R160s and R188s never had problems, aside from some minor late deliveries). Luckily, the R179 door issues have been fixed completely and all 50 R42s and 82 of the remaining 222 R32s have been sidelined, to the joy of everyone.

@@redbird1train855 Yes. More specifically, retired from service. As I said, due to fixes with the R179s and revisions in fleet needs from the L train work, the last 50 R42s and 82 of the remaining 222 R32s have been retired from service, since the R179 fleet will be obsolete. When all said and done, there will be a very big expansion in the fleet to accommodate increased service due to CBTC, Second Avenue Subway Phase 2, and other service changes, which will get people back on to the subway system.

I don't like these trains the old ones boo I hate the old ones on R42 they sucks they don't have door chime or new technology announcents like listen to crew display this train is garbage
