The best outcome for Shirou is the one in Fate/kaleid and capsule servant. In the Illyaverse he got a loving family and doesn't dabble with magecraft (he also has Luvia so thats a plus!) while in Capsule Servant he adopted a baby Caren (and has Counter Guardian TOHSAKA).

I'm genuinely afraid that this is an illusion of free choice in play because... Damn it, I respect Shirou. Shirou do have happy lives in Emiya Gohan and Fate/Kaleid, not Miyu's verse tho. And in all 3 main routes' normal and true ends (except Heaven's Feel normal ends), he do have a happy ending. Fate route is still a bit tragic with Illya's death tho. Last Episode is also a good one. In Fate/Apocrypha, he indeed has a happy life, too.

With great power comes great responsibility what seems like a pretty straightforward quote on the surface seems pretty thought provoking when you remove the layers. I may not understand emiya's ideals in depth and its fine to want to help people, but you have a responsibility to care for the people closest to you more than anything else. Both emiya's have a strong sense of justice but what use is that justice when you destroy the people closest to you. Both emiyas abandoned their families to pursue an ideal that could never be reached and it cost them everything. It shows why emiya is just so tragic cause he has the makings of a hero but just didnt quite get it all the way there.

You do understand that pretty much the entire cast of Fate is insane in some way or another. Kiritsugu let out a vampire apocalypse and was forced to kill his dad when he realized that magus are assholes. Shirou was a blank slate raised by a dying man who if he didn't save Shirou would have blown his brains out. Haruno is a clone who in the timelines that he doesn't die. Gets shanked by Archimedes, split into three, and used to bring about the apocalypse. And then he has to fight an ancient king that brainwashed a planet. And the alien apocalypse is still flying around waiting for a rematch. Walter got lucky by comparison and Gray is a cinnamon roll who would be completely justified in killing her family. Since they planned to feed her to Saber in the hopes of fixing Brexit. Sieg was made to be a disposable tool and sacrificed his love, his friends, and his humanity. To stop a crazy Tuxedo mask wannabe from turning everyone into Tang. Even Ritsuka who is the most normal dude in the story has directly and indirectly killed millions at the bare minimum. And clearly needs professional help.

But Muramasa himself states that his personality is moreso derived from his vessel than the actual Muramasa, again, because he's not an HS and more of a Wraith. He described his resulting personality to be the result of his vessel "living Muramasa's life". As opposed to the other Pseudo Servants, who more or less just completely take over their hosts. So really, Muramasa is just "What if Shirou was isekai'd to the past and lived Muramasa's life". It is funny to note that Muramasa then also says that he was surprised how compatible his vessel was with the process, to the point where he questions whether his vessel was a long lost descendant or something. So it seems like the real Muramasa was pretty similar to Shirou anyway.
