Awesome show! My favorite review crew so far. So cool to see Chris Reifert!

Pagan Saviour by Autopsy has the greatest death metal groove I've ever heard, Chris is a great drummer and singer! So cool having him on the show.

Great review of Adorior. Birth of Disease is hands down my favorite song too. I even play part of it at gigs for line check lol. Great band and Melissa is easily the most genuinely metal chick you will ever meet 🤘

Good show!! Here's three that are right up there for best of 2024 Invertebrates- Sick To Survive (Richmond VA) Flower- Heel Of The Next/Physical God (NYC) Yellowcake- Can You See The Future (Phoenix) These three are likely in Count Ralfus / Ryan Skow territory....

Hey Chris cool of you to drop by. I too dig Smoke & Fiction. If it's X's last, cool that they went on a winner!

Good show guys. Great suggestions this week. I bookmarked Adorior, & Qrixkuor! & That Malignancy is SICK! Need to check out that Anciients & the latest X. \m/ \m/

yes Qrixkuor is the band whose name I dared not attempt to pronounce! They are fantastic though!

Sheer Mag - Playing Favorites The third album from a solid Philly based garage punk/power pop band. Henrik Palm - Nerd Icon An absolute banger of a third solo album from one of Ghost's former Nameless Ghouls. Very eerie and rocking! El Moono - The Waking Sun A very awesome album from this Brighton, England based band that are certain in the hard rock/metal/alternative rock realm, but can't really be pigeonholed into a particular sub genre. Definitely think y'all should check this one out!

Great topic for a show: Modern masterpieces! What do you guys consider real masterpieces from 2000-2020 with hindsight.

Entertaining as always. Chris was a great addition. Ralph, will you be reviewing the Stigma book? I saw you commenting on NYHC Chronicles. I just got mine in the mail and will be seeing AF and Obituary in Chicago on Tues.

Just started reading it also, I would love to review it, Stigma is such a unique character. Love the NYHC Chronicles 🤘

@countralfus6408 Vinnie Stigma with his guitar in the middle of the pit for "Friend or Foe." The pit was from the stage to the bar. AF stole the show so far here in Chicago.

@@kylemacneil3477 that's great , I got to hang with Drew and Stigma in Albany last winter, they were both really cool , got pictures with both of them and I traded the Motorhead I was wearing for an A. F. hat that Stigma was wearing.

Another great show! I liked the Thunderbird Divine and since 80% of all stoner metal owes something to Monster Magnet, that aspect didn't jump out at me, but yeah, Philly. It's lurking in my top 150, will revisit. Anciients were definitely featured in my best of late summer releases. I agree that they've improved since their early Mastodon/Baroness/Opeth influenced first two albums. I'm not usually into much black metal, but Adorior is cool. The last (definitely last) X album is great, and while I've never liked Oi stuff, I'm giving Cock Sparrer another go. 9/13 was another big release day, and I listened to about 30 albums so you don't have to. Here's my faves: The Mystery Lights - Purgatory (Wick) | USA | Garage Noir, Garage Psych, Garage Punk Motorpsycho - Neigh!! (NFGS) | Norway | Psych Prog Upupayama - Mount Elephant (Fuzz Club) | Italy | Psych Folk, Raga Rock Spirit Mother - Trails (Heavy Psych) | USA | Heavy Psych Noir The Jesus Lizard - Rack (Ipecac) | USA | Noise Rock Slomosa - Tundra Rock (Stickman) | Norway | Stoner, Desert, Heavy Rock Gurriers - Come and See (No Filter) | Ireland | Post-Punk, Noise Rock Satan - Songs in Crimson (Metal Blade) | UK | Heavy Metal, NWOBHM Oceans Of Slumber - Where Gods Fear to Speak (Season Of Mist) | USA | Prog Metal

Wanna review something different. Check out these bands from the Faroe Islands. Hamferð a doom metal band, who are on Metal Blade Records, released "Men Guðs Hond er Sterk" this year and Hamradun a folk metal band, they released " Nætur Nýggju" on Tutl Records also released this year.

Chris, I will check out that new X based on your recommendation. I love their early stuff and agree that the first four albums are the real meat and potatoes. The mix of punk and rockabilly and the alternating males and female vocals set them apart from other bands of the era. I think that Billy Zoom left just before they recorded See How We Are and I kinda lost interest. Looking forward to hearing the new one.

@@ykmgeedee I hadn't heard Free Ride until Pete's review either. His reviews are usually spot-on, and if he recommends an album it's generally worth checking out.
